We do this by collecting quality surplus stock from food companies, sorting and storing it, then redistributing it to charities who feed vulnerable communities. Our Community Collection Points are stationed across Hong Kong, and are a place that the general public can drop off their donations of non-perishable foods, such as rice, cooking oil, canned foods. Demand for more food is high, so is people’s willingness to donate food – we just need lots of easily-accessible points for people to drop off their goodies. But we couldn’t do this without the innovation, energy and fresh thinking of organisations, such as Yindii, who make this possible. The Yindii platform helps to reduce food waste by working with food companies across Hong Kong, Thailand and Singapore, selling surplus items through the app at a cheaper price, and to date, have rescued over 300,000 meals!
