The first new Mario Kart game in over a decade also has one of the best open world environments ever but what’s it like to play with a dozen other people? You’re probably wondering why we’re doing another preview of Mario Kart World (and Welcome Tour) just a few days before the launch of the Nintendo Switch 2 but as has just been announced, Nintendo is not sending out review consoles or games until much closer to launch. As people all over the world get their hands on the Switch 2, Nintendo has warned console owners not to remove its protective film layer. The Nintendo Switch 2 is out now and while most people are clamouring to boot up Mario Kart World, there are always some important steps to bear in mind when getting a new console. Those who have an original Switch will need to transfer save data over to the new system, while those of a clumsy (or sensible) persuasion might have invested in a protector or case to help avoid any long-term scratches or marks. However, some panic has emerged following the circulation of the Nintendo Switch 2’s health and safety manual, which refers to a protective film layer already on the screen. The next instalment in Capcom’s Resident Evil series will debut this week according to sources, with all signs pointing to a 2026 launch. Ahead of Summer Game Fest and the other showcases of this month’s not-E3 season, one of the big questions is whether we’ll see more on the future of Resident Evil. Capcom confirmed Resident Evil 9 was in development last July, with Koshi Nakanishi, the director of Resident Evil 7, at the helm. Since then, we’ve heard nothing official about the next entry, but rumours suggest it will sport an open world and star Leon S. Kennedy. Almost a year later, several insiders have claimed Capcom is preparing for a big reveal at Summer Game Fest on Friday, June 6. Read more 👉 https://trib.al/mAMImzu

After a dozen hours with the biggest game on Nintendo Switch 2, GameCentral tries to evaluate the surprisingly controversial new Mario Kart game. It’s very obvious why Mario Kart World is the main launch title for the Nintendo Switch 2: it’s been over a decade since the last one and Mario Kart 8 is one of the best-selling video games of all-time. Much of that success is due to the innate simplicity of the concept and the easy accessibility of its controls, so it’s surprising that Mario Kart World has been so difficult for people to get their heads around. We’ve played it three times now, for increasingly long lengths of time, the previous time being at a press event with a host of other journos. But now that we have a Nintendo Switch 2 of our own, we’ve been able to spend even longer exploring the game at our leisure and we’ve come to the conclusion that Nintendo’s marketing for the game is doing it a disservice. If you feel like you’ve missed your window to pre-order a Nintendo Switch 2, one retailer says it’ll have stock on launch day – but you’ll need to get up early. Despite Nintendo’s efforts to ensure there would be enough Nintendo Switch 2 consoles to go around, it’s looking very likely that supply won’t meet demand after all. While online pre-orders have routinely sold out very quickly (even Nintendo’s own store doesn’t have any) there’s still a chance those that have waited till the last minute can secure a console at launch. Smyths, for instance, will have a limited amount of stock across its stores as part of a midnight launch and one other UK retailer has now announced how you can purchase a Switch 2 from them as long as you’re up early on the morning of Thursday, June 5. Microsoft is finally set to release an Xbox branded handheld console but it’s actually being made by Asus and is very similar to the existing ROG Ally. There wasn’t much at the Xbox Games Showcase that hadn’t already been leaked out weeks before (well, maybe the fact that Double Fine’s new game features a walking, sentient lighthouse) and so it was not the surprise it should’ve been that one of the main reveals was the ROG Xbox Ally and ROG Xbox Ally X handheld devices. As previously rumoured, these are not consoles being made by Microsoft but basically rebranded versions of ASUS’s existing ROG Ally line. The big difference is an Xbox button used to access chat, apps, and other setting relating to Game Pass and cloud gaming. They also have contoured grips, designed to be similar to the official Xbox controllers, but they’re not Xbox consoles and instead run Windows 11 – so they’re essentially just portable PCs. Nintendo has issued a warning for online play in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate on the Switch 2, although there are some benefits to playing on the new console. One of the best features of the Nintendo Switch 2 is the amount of original Switch games which have received upgrades, ranging from paid-for overhauls in Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom to free improvements in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. However, as highlighted by Nintendo prior to the Switch 2’s launch, not every game has had a smooth transition between consoles, with titles like Ring Fit Adventure, 1-2-Switch, and WarioWare: Move It! coming with some caveats when played on the new system. While these titles have understandable issues connected to the lack of IR motion camera in the Switch 2 Joy-Con, one title which has encountered a bizarre problem is Super Smash Bros. Ultimate – and it’s all because of Mii Fighters. Read more 👉 https://trib.al/U0ginSM

Nintendo Switch 2 consoles are just now arriving with press but it’s going to be a long time before there are any full reviews. The Nintendo Switch 2 is out on Thursday, June 5 but as you’ll have noticed, nowhere on the internet has any reviews of either the games or the console itself. We have new hands-on previews of Mario Kart World and Welcome Tour but those are based on preview events from a couple of weeks ago. Nevertheless, we now finally have an actual Switch 2 console of our own, so we’ll be able to work on some actual reviews. Read more 👉 https://trib.al/TTeku0H
