ZPCS REPRESENTED AT SADC CORRECTIONAL WELLNESS, HEALTH & SPORTS WORKING GROUP IN DURBAN The Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Service (ZPCS) is proudly represented at the ongoing Southern African Development Community (SADC) Working Group on Wellness, Health, and Sports, taking place from 24 to 28 February 2025 at Protea Hotel Karridene Beach, Durban, South Africa. Representing ZPCS at this important regional gathering are Assistant Commissioner Dr. Memory Makuchete from the health department and Chief Correctional Officer Edward Zamira from national sports office. This annual meeting brings together key stakeholders from correctional services across the SADC region to discuss strategies that promote health, well-being, sports, and recreational activities within the corrections environment. The ultimate goal is to contribute to individual empowerment, enhance the physical and mental health of correctional officers and develop inclusive regional programs that uplift the entire corrections fraternity. For ZPCS, participation in such engagements is crucial as it provides a platform to learn best practices, exchange knowledge, and adopt policies that improve the well-being of our officers. The event highlights the importance of wellness programs in reducing stress, boosting morale, and enhancing operational efficiency within correctional facilities. Furthermore, sports and recreational activities play a key role in fostering discipline, teamwork, and rehabilitation efforts within the correctional system. By collaborating with other SADC member states, ZPCS strengthens its commitment to creating a healthier and more motivated workforce. This engagement aligns with ZPCS ongoing efforts to implement progressive wellness initiatives that ensure officers remain physically fit, mentally resilient, and well-equipped to carry out their duties effectively. As the conference unfolds, we look forward to the valuable insights our representatives will bring back to enhance ZPCS wellness and sports programs. Their participation underscores our dedication to regional cooperation and continuous improvement in correctional services. #WellnessAndSports #CorrectionsForDevelopment ZBC News Online Star FM H-Metro Sunday Mail Zimbabwe Manica Post Zimpapers The Herald-Zimbabwe

Parliament Explores Partnership with Zimbabwe Prisons for Constituency Information Centres In a move aimed at enhancing public access to parliamentary information, the Clerk of Parliament, Kennedy Mugove Chokuda, led a delegation to Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Service (ZPCS) to explore potential collaboration in establishing Parliamentary Constituency Information Centres (PCICs) across the country. The delegation met with ZPCS Commissioner-General Dr Moses Cyril Ngawaite Chihobvu at Harare Central Officers Mess. ZPCS has a well-established Building Brigade composed of skilled inmates and qualified artisans who undertake construction projects for individuals, government departments, schools, and private companies. This initiative not only equips inmates with practical skills but also generates revenue for the correctional service. If a partnership is finalised, this expertise could be leveraged to support the construction of PCICs. These centres will serve as hubs for parliamentary information, allowing citizens to engage with legislative processes. By bringing Parliament closer to the people, the initiative aims to promote transparency, education, and active public participation. From a correctional perspective, involving inmates in meaningful, skilled work aligns with ZPCS’s rehabilitation and reintegration goals enhancing inmates’ employability upon release, reducing the likelihood of reoffending and demonstrating that correctional facilities can contribute positively to national development. Thisis engagement between Parliament and ZPCS highlights the potential for cross-sector collaboration in achieving national objectives. As the process unfolds, further deliberations will determine how best to implement the initiative in a way that benefits both institutions and the nation as a whole. A day of Hope and Renewal: ZPCS Inmates Join Madzibaba Tebenege for Prayer Session This past weekend, Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Service (ZPCS) inmates from Chikurubi Female Prison and Harare Central Prison experienced a powerful moment of spiritual renewal and hope at Madzibaba Tebenege’s shrine in Glen Norah B. The prayer session, led by the renowned leader of Johane Masowe eChishanu Graspa, was a continuation of his commitment to uplifting those behind bars. Earlier, on 1 January 2025, Madzibaba Tebenege and his congregation visited Harare Central and Remand Prison, where they held a heartfelt day of prayer with inmates. He prayed for those incarcerated to be given a second chance in life and for those awaiting trial to have their cases resolved fairly and swiftly. His message of repentance, hope, and transformation resonated deeply with those in attendance. The weekend gathering at his shrine was a remarkable occasion, as inmates—accompanied by correctional officers from Public Relations and the Rehabilitation Section—joined in song and prayer. The atmosphere was filled with emotion as the inmates sang, worshiped, and received words of encouragement that reinforced the ZPCS mandate of rehabilitation and reintegration. Madzibaba Tebenege emphasized the importance of spiritual guidance in the journey of reform, urging the inmates to embrace faith and change their lives for the better. His congregation welcomed the inmates with warmth, treating them as brothers and sisters deserving of love, forgiveness, and a fresh start. ZPCS appreciates the support of faith-based organizations like Johane Masowe eChishanu Graspa, whose involvement in the rehabilitation of inmates is invaluable. Spiritual programs such as these play a crucial role in transforming lives and preparing inmates for successful reintegration into society. As ZPCS, we remain committed to our vision of rehabilitating offenders through various programs that promote behavioral change, skills development, and spiritual growth. We thank Madzibaba Tebenege and his followers for their unwavering support and encourage more partnerships that foster hope and restoration among those in our care. #ZPCS #Rehabilitation #SecondChance #FaithAndTransformation
