A team from the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation's (BMC) veterinary department has been scrambling to locate two stray dogs in the Gundavali area of Andheri (E), Mumbai after they were picked up for sterilization and subsequently went missing from their original location. According to a report in The Free Press Journal, an animal welfare activist has accused the BMC's veterinary department of failing to return the dogs to their rightful place. A team from BMC's Deonar abattoir allegedly picked up the two dogs, Joey and Yellow, from the TCS Banyan Park campus in Gundavali, promising to release them back after vaccination and neutering. However, an animal feeder from the campus has alleged that the dogs were never returned to their original location. The complainant, who chose to remain anonymous, visited the Deonar abattoir to check on the dogs and was assured that they were in qood health and would be released at the exact location they were taken from. However, the veterinary van later claimed that the dogs were dropped outside the TCS campus since entry was not permitted. Following the disappearance of the dogs, animal activists from the Pure Animal Lovers (PAL) Foundation filed a complaint at the MIDC police station, alleging illegal relocation. Sources informed that the BMC veterinary team has been searching for the missing dogs for the past six days to avoid legal consequences. Notably, relocating community animals without proper authorization or documentation is a violation of Section 11(1)(a) and Section 11(1)(i) of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960. Despite repeated appeals from activists, no First Information Report (FIR) has been registered in the matter
