CONDOLENCE MESSAGE Lamka, the 6th February, 2025 The Kuki Inpi Manipur (KIM) is deeply shocked to learn of the sudden demise of Pu Letmang Haokip, Chief of Aihang Village, Chandel District, at a hospital in Guwahati, due to prolonged illness on 5th February 2025. He was the elder brother of Pu Letpao Haokip, Hon'ble Minister of Tribal Affairs & Hills. The Inpi deeply mourns the loss of this exemplary Kuki Chief, who selflessly served society and the community, sacrificing personal interests while working as a social worker for many years. Late Pu Letmang Haokip, a renowned Chief of one of the oldest Kuki villages, Aihang, was disciplined, principled, and full of integrity. His qualities are ones that present-generation youths and budding leaders should strive to follow. May God shower solace upon the bereaved family and grant peace to the departed soul. No. 01/KIM/Admn./22-07 Date : 04/02/2025 PRESS RELEASE The recent surge of fake news circulating on social media and through various Manipuri news channels, alleging that an FIR has been filed against Ch, Ajang Khongsai, the president of Kuki Inpi, over the Lhungjang incident raises significant concerns. Such misinformation appears to be a calculated attempt to tarnish the reputation of not only Mr. Khongsai but also the broader Kuki community. The Kuki Inpi has taken a strong stance against the cultivation of poppy plants in the community, recognizing the serious implications associated with it. The organization has issued clear directives in the past urging community members to refrain from engaging in poppy cultivation and as a result poppy plantation has decreased dramatically. Therefore, portraying the Inpi president as a promoter of poppy cultivation is a severe misrepresentation having malicious intent to serve the false narrative fostered by the state government.
