*Interview* *Mixed Emotions for Finidi George After Akwa United Draw* After seeing his side pick up a point from their 1-1 draw against Akwa United, Technical Manager Finidi George was left with mixed emotions. The boss was pleased to come away from the Nest of Champions with a result and a solid performance, having played over 40 minutes with 10 men. However, having led through Ubong Friday's well-taken strike from a free kick 20 yards out, seeing the win slip away courtesy of Abson Mare's second-half header was not what anyone wanted. Finidi feels that the 54th-minute sending off of Abba Suleiman affected their display, but was still satisfied with the work rate and commitment of his players, who kept going until the end. "It was a good game," Finidi said. "I thought we would have won it, but it didn't happen. I think the players did well; just a slight mistake defensively, and they got that equalizer. But I think in the second half, we had another opportunity where I thought the striker could have shot better. It didn't happen, so at the end of the day, playing with one man less, we could manage the game and we got that one point. I am quite happy, even though I wanted the three points. Looking at the way everything unfolded, I think it's a well-deserved point." Charles Mayuku Media Director, Rivers United FC 20th February, 2025
