*EID UL ADHA is celebrated for 4 days unlike EID UL FITR which is one day. It is not permissible for non Hujjaaj to fast on these days even though it's Mondays or Thursdays or 1st day (13th of Dhul-Hijjah) of ayyam al-beed.* *Hadith #1* "حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مَسْلَمَةَ الْقَعْنَبِيُّ، عَنْ مَالِكٍ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ الْهَادِ، عَنْ أَبِي مُرَّةَ، مَوْلَى أُمِّ هَانِئٍ أَنَّهُ دَخَلَ مَعَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو عَلَى أَبِيهِ عَمْرِو بْنِ الْعَاصِ فَقَرَّبَ إِلَيْهِمَا طَعَامًا فَقَالَ كُلْ ‏.‏ فَقَالَ إِنِّي صَائِمٌ ‏.‏ فَقَالَ عَمْرٌو كُلْ فَهَذِهِ الأَيَّامُ الَّتِي كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم يَأْمُرُنَا بِإِفْطَارِهَا وَيَنْهَانَا عَنْ صِيَامِهَا ‏.‏ قَالَ مَالِكٌ وَهِيَ أَيَّامُ التَّشْرِيقِ ‏.‏" Abu Murrah, the client of Umm Hani, entered along with 'Abd Allah b. 'Amr upon his father 'Amr b. 'As and he brought food for him. He said: *Eat. He said: I am fasting. 'Amr said: Eat, these are the days on which the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) used to command us to break fast, and forbid us to keep fast. The narrator Malik said: These are the day of al-tashriq (i.e. 11th, 12th, and 13th of Dhu al-Hijjah).* Sahih (Al-Albani) Sunan Abi Dawud, 2418 *Hadith#2* "حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ، حَدَّثَنَا غُنْدَرٌ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، سَمِعْتُ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ عِيسَى، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، عَنْ عُرْوَةَ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ،‏.‏ وَعَنْ سَالِمٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ـ رضى الله عنهم ـ قَالاَ لَمْ يُرَخَّصْ فِي أَيَّامِ التَّشْرِيقِ أَنْ يُصَمْنَ، إِلاَّ لِمَنْ لَمْ يَجِدِ الْهَدْىَ‏.‏" Narrated `Aisha and Ibn `Umar: *Nobody was allowed to fast on the days of Tashriq except those who could not afford the Hadi (Sacrifice).* Sahih al-Bukhari, 1997, 1998 *Hadith#3* "حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ يُوسُفَ، أَخْبَرَنَا مَالِكٌ، عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ، عَنْ سَالِمِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ـ رضى الله عنهما ـ قَالَ الصِّيَامُ لِمَنْ تَمَتَّعَ بِالْعُمْرَةِ إِلَى الْحَجِّ، إِلَى يَوْمِ عَرَفَةَ، فَإِنْ لَمْ يَجِدْ هَدْيًا وَلَمْ يَصُمْ صَامَ أَيَّامَ مِنًى‏.‏ وَعَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ عَنْ عُرْوَةَ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ مِثْلَهُ‏.‏ تَابَعَهُ إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ‏.‏" Narrated Ibn `Umar: *Fasting for those who perform ,Hajj-at-Tamattu` (in lieu of the Hadi which they cannot afford) may be performed up to the day of `Arafat. And if one does not get a Hadi and has not fasted (before the `Id) then one should fast of the days of Mina. (11, 12 and 13th of Dhul Hajja).* Sahih al-Bukhari, 1999 *Hadith#4* وَحَدَّثَنَا سُرَيْجُ بْنُ يُونُسَ، حَدَّثَنَا هُشَيْمٌ، أَخْبَرَنَا خَالِدٌ، عَنْ أَبِي الْمَلِيحِ، عَنْ نُبَيْشَةَ، الْهُذَلِيِّ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم ‏"‏ أَيَّامُ التَّشْرِيقِ أَيَّامُ أَكْلٍ وَشُرْبٍ ‏"‏ ‏.‏ Nubaisha al-Hudhali reported Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) as saying: *The days of Tashriq are the days of eating and drinking.* Sahih Muslim, 1141 a In-Book Reference: Book 13, Hadith 183
