In 1906, at the age of 16, Harland falsified his date of birth and enlisted in the United States Army. He completed his service commitment and was honorably discharged from the US Army. During the years leading up to 1940, Harland worked at over 50 various jobs, many of which he was fired from. In July 1940, at the age of 50, Harland finalized a recipe that he had been randomly working on for years. This Secret Recipe was for frying chicken in a pressure fryer that cooked the chicken faster than pan frying. He got a patent for this process. Harland was raised in a strict home, and he never forgot the biblical truths that his mom taught him as a child. Later in his life, both Harland and his wife accepted Jesus as their personal savior. In September 1970, Harland and his wife were baptized in the Jordan River. Harland David Sanders is his full name. He is better known as Colonel Sanders, the founder of Kentucky Fried Chicken, which is known today as KFC. Follow along as I share a thought with you. There's nothing quite like good food. You can have an abundance of Christian knowledge and biblical facts, but until you digest them spiritually, they won't change your life.
