*Planning to travel on a green card? Be aware of key factors that could raise red flags at the U.S. border.* Extended trips abroad, pending immigration applications, prior violations, or even political affiliations can lead to increased scrutiny. This is especially true for elderly travelers and those lacking strong ties to the U.S. — such as proof of employment, property, or family. Stay prepared and informed to avoid delays or complications during reentry.

Many people believe that everyone who comes to the U.S. is assigned an A-Number, but that's not true. Only certain immigrants — mainly green card applicants, asylum seekers, and some visa holders — receive an A-Number. It serves as a unique identification number for tracking immigration records, but not every visitor or temporary traveler is issued one. Understanding who gets an A-Number can help avoid confusion when navigating the U.S. immigration system.
