Twee Rivieren is a border post located within the Kgalagadi Transfrontier area, facilitating travel between South Africa and Botswana. BMA and SAPS vehicle checkpoints are important for enhancing border security, verifying compliance with immigration and detecting illicit goods. This ensures the safe and legal movement of people and goods.

Working hard to strengethen the commitment to improve border management, South Africa has already signed the JAPs with the Republic of Mozambique in 2023 and the Kingdom of Eswatini in November 2024. According to Commissioner Masiapato, the Border Management Authority will also strengthen security through integrated risk management and compliance mechanisms as we as boosting regional integration by supporting the African Continental Free Trade Area and SADC goals.


Today, 17 June 2025, Commissioner and CEO of the Border Management Authority(BMA), Dr Michael Masipato and the South African Revenue Service (SARS) signed a historic Joint Action Plan with the Kingdom of Lesotho, this signing symbolises a commitment to improve border management and to set the stage for future coorperation and collaboration. Delivering his welcoming remarks, Commssioner Masiapato stated that "This initiative is a testament to the strong bilateral relations between our two countries and our collective resolve to foster seamless cross-border movement, economic growth, and security". The meeting also discussed the study of the Maseru One-Stop Border Post(OSBP) blueprint.


BMA Commissioner Mike Masiapato reveals that they will soon be announcing a private partner that will work in redesigning the Lebombo border post which connects South Africa and Mozambique.

Today's meeting addresses key priorities that will shape the future of our border management collaboration. Based on our common borders, economic connections, and developmental objectives, South Africa and Mozambique have a strategic and historic cooperation. Our interdepence and the necessity of smooth, effective, and secure cross-border activities are demonstrated by the Lebombo-Ressano Garcia crossing, which is one of the busiest ports of entry on the African continent says Commissioner Masiapato.
