*KARATARA FINANCE OFFICE – TEMPORARY CLOSURE & ALTERNATIVE MEASURES*📢 The Finance Office in Karatara is temporarily closed due to operational reasons. However, the municipality has implemented alternative operational measures to ensure continued service delivery. * The office will reopen twice a week on Mondays and Fridays, starting Friday, 14 February 2025. * The office will also be open for three extra days during the week of Month-End / SASSA Paydays. While the Finance Office is impacted, all other municipal services remain fully operational. In the meantime, customers can visit the Sedgefield Offices for assistance. *DELAYS IN REFUSE COLLECTION*📢 Unfortunately, we were unable to collect refuse in the following areas:🚛 ➡️Northern Areas: Ethembeni & Rhobololo - due to access challenges. 📍 Currently on schedule for today: ➡️ Hornlee Heights, Fraaisig, Rykmanshoogte – Collection is in progress but may not be completed. Illegal dumping has many other negative effects, such as: _*It can cause fires*_🔥 Rubble or glass lying in the sun can heat up so much that it can start a fire. Smoke and fumes can be dangerous and deadly, and fire destroys the natural vegetation and can easily spread to homes. _*It can cause bad odours*_🤢 Rubbish or rubble left on sidewalks or street corners can start to smell and stink up your area. It can also end up in stormwater drains causing blockages and smelly sewerage spills, and eventually reach the estuary where it will cause serious pollution. _*You will get into legal trouble*_⚖️ Any person who is caught dumping rubbish illegally may be liable to a fine or imprisonment, or both. _*How can you make a difference?*_✅ ♻️ Don’t litter.
