In 2022, total excise tax collection reached Rs. 170 billion, with a target of Rs. 217 billion set for 2023. This reflects ongoing regulatory changes aimed at balancing traditional practices with modern economic demands. 💵📊 Recently, the government has taken steps to bolster the local toddy industry by facilitating access to international markets. In 2022, Sri Lanka exported US $21 million worth of alcoholic beverages, including locally produced coconut and kithul toddy, to 35 countries.
