*Rahul Uses Another Rahul’s Mark Sheet to Lure Minor; Police Fail to Make Headway* *DARBHANGA:* A minor girl from the Biraul police station area of Darbhanga district has been missing for nearly 15 days after allegedly eloping with a youth who reportedly deceived her using another person’s (his namesake) academic certificate. Despite crucial evidence, including mobile numbers, CCTV footage, and the accused’s identity, police have failed to make any significant progress, raising serious concerns over their handling of the case. According to the FIR (Case No. 27/2025) lodged by the girl’s grandfather, she left home on January 16 for her coaching class but never returned. When the family contacted her coaching center, they were informed that she had not attended that day, prompting them to report her disappearance. Investigations revealed that the accused, Rahul Yadav from Kaluahi police station area in Madhubani district, had befriended the minor through the ShareChat app. To impress her, he allegedly used the mark sheet of another youth, also named Rahul Kumar, from the Khajauli police station area in Madhubani district, pretending it to be his own. Despite these clear leads, police have been unable to trace the accused or recover the girl. A CCTV camera near her village captured her image, and the accused’s identity is known, yet the investigation has moved at a sluggish pace. A raid at the accused’s house yielded no results, as only his mother and sister were present. His mobile phone has remained switched off since the incident, and while police claim to be relying on technical surveillance, no breakthrough has been reported. Shockingly, police have yet to interrogate the second Rahul, whose academic documents were allegedly misused. This news reporter managed to speak with him, and he denied any involvement, stating, “Rahul was just a Facebook friend. I never provided my mark sheet to him. I have already shared all details with the police.” However, when asked, the police admitted they had not questioned him yet. The victim’s family is growing increasingly frustrated, accusing the police of inaction despite having all necessary evidence at their disposal. When contacted, the SDPO of Biraul cited preoccupation with a law-and-order situation and refused to comment further. With each passing day, the family’s distress deepens, exposing the police’s glaring failure in handling a case that could have been solved swiftly with prompt action.
