I have received the sad news of the passing on to glory of my dear friend and brother President Edgar Chaggwa Lungu, Former President of the Republic of Zambia, with profound sorrow and a heavy heart. President Lungu was more than a colleague—he was a brother, a man of great dignity, humility, and unwavering commitment to public service. During our time as Presidents of our respective nations, I had the honour of working closely with him on issues of bilateral and multilateral relations. He was full of wise counsel, steady leadership, and had utmost dedication to the people of Zambia. As a fellow legal luminary, I admired his respect for the rule of law and the depth of his understanding of justice and governance. As a friend, I valued his warmth, his humour, and his unwavering loyalty. On behalf of the Democratic Progressive Party, my family, and in my personal capacity, I extend our deepest condolences to his beloved family, to His Excellency President Hakainde Hichilema and the government and people of Zambia, and to all who mourn this great loss. May his soul rest in eternal peace, and may his legacy continue to inspire future generations across our continent. Prof. Arthur Peter Mutharika, Former President of the Republic of Malawi Party President: Democratic Progressive Party

Are you looking forward to September? I am. The headlines today, as of every other day since MCP came to power, are gloomy. This country is no longer just in a crisis, it has been reduced to being the crisis itself. We cannot continue like this. There is a need for a reset. This September, when you get into the voting booth, do not repeat the mistake of 2020. Tick on proven leadership. Tick on a tried, tested and approved leader. Endorse a democratic and a progressive party. Zachongeni pa DPP so that we stop this acceleration to doom. For Presidency, Member of Parliament and Councillor, do not look anywhere. DPP! DPP! DPP! Make your vote matter as we #ReturnToProvenLeadership

Today, members of the clergy of the Blantyre Synod of the CCAP paid us a visit at The Page House. As their members, we were so happy to host them. They prayed with us and wished us well as we embark on the journey that will see Malawi #ReturnToProvenLeadership. I know the challenges the clergy, their members and all Malawians are facing. This September, we will start fixing those challenges once we get into power.

On this first day of March 2025, the Muslim community in Malawi embarks on the sacred journey of Ramadan, a time of fasting from sunrise to sunset, deep devotion through prayer and Quran recitation, and spiritual reflection in pursuit of a stronger connection with Allah. The Former First Lady, Professor Gertrude Mutharika, and I extend our warmest greetings to our Muslim brothers and sisters during this blessed month. May this sacred period inspire us all to pray for peace, tolerance, and unity in our beloved Malawi. Let us also remember to seek divine guidance in addressing the challenges our nation faces, including poverty and hunger. Malawi is our home, and it is our collective duty to make it a better place through our prayers, dedication, loyalty, and patriotism.
