"Find your ONE talk" they said. "Niche down your public speaking". But yesterday I did my 2nd talk for this group - a different topic to the first. While I was packing up, the organiser (pictured here) came over and said, "The group is gushing about your talk. They want you back. What other topic can you do?" I am incredibly lucky to have had the best teacher training. I can walk into any classroom, and as long as I am prepared, can teach almost anything. As a Supply Teacher I did everything from French to Technical Drawing simply because I can focus on the learning, the types of students and give them the space to grow. My training at Contiki meant I could go into any town or city, completely 'blind'. I could even lead a walking tour in a city I had never been to. The training taught me adaptability, confidence and again, focusing on my guests and their experience of the location. "You tell me what your members would like to find out more about and I will prepare it", I responded. There were 2 ladies in the audience who wanted my details to invite me to speak at their meetings. So, yes, I started with a niche, and as Lois Creamer says, they asked what else I could do, and from one event, 3 opportunities have become available which will stretch me as a speaker. I am always buzzing after a talk. It is incredibly invigorating to share knowledge and passion. I just love ♥️♥️♥️ it!
