OVERCOMING DEPRESSION AND PAIN Devotion: Developing a Prayerful Habit Scripture Reading: 1 Thessalonians 5:16-17 "Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus." As believers, we're instructed by God's own words to develop a prayerful habit, one that's characterized by rejoicing, praying, and giving thanks. In 1 Thessalonians 5:16-17, Paul reminds us that this is God's will for us in Christ Jesus. Not of a compulsion, but willingness to commune constantly with God. So, what does it mean to pray without ceasing? It doesn't mean we're constantly praying out loud or that we're never silent. Rather, it means we're cultivating a spirit of continuous prayer, one that's marked by a deep awareness of God's presence and guidance. The conscious effort to continually talk to God. It could be loud, silent or within. Practical Tips cultivate prayerfulness: - *Start small*: Begin with short, frequent prayers throughout the day. _Psalm 55:17-19 "I will pray morning, noon, and night, pleading aloud with God; and he will hear and answer_. - *Create a prayer routine*: Establish a regular prayer routine, such as praying first thing in the morning or before bed. - *Use prayer prompts*: Utilize prayer prompts or journals to help guide your prayers and keep you focused. - *Practice gratitude*: Make gratitude a central part of your prayer life, giving thanks in all circumstances. _'..give thanks in all circumstances.' 1 Thessalonians 5:18_ -Step to take: Take a few minutes to reflect on your current prayer life. What are some ways you can cultivate a spirit of continuous prayer? Write down some practical steps you can take to develop a more prayerful habit. Even in your busy schedule, a moment could be made to say thank you Jesus 🙏 🙏 That's where to start. Prayer: Dear Lord Jesus, help me to develop a prayerful habit, one that's marked by power, rejoicing, revelation, and giving thanks. My life is transforming by this habit of constant fellowship with You in prayers. Give me the strength and discipline to prioritize prayer in my daily life. *Praying with faith * Job 35:13 EasyEnglish "They may pray to God. But they do not believe that he will answer them. So God does not even listen to them." Prayer is not about beautiful grammar, length of time spent or the numerous verses quoted. They all help you build your prayer stamina, but what is the essence for all of these if it is not done with faith? God listen to us when we believe what we're saying to him. Faith backed prayer maybe short or long, but will achieve more results. Faith as little as a mustard seed can move mountains. God is eager to listen and answer your prayers, BELIEVE WHAT YOU SAY. And when you pray, don't contradict it with negativity and doubt, no matter the situation you find yourself. OVERCOMING DEPRESSION AND PAIN Devotion: Breaking Addictions Scripture: 2 Corinthians 5:17 (NIV) "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!" Addiction can be a powerful and destructive force in our lives. Whether it's an addiction to substances, behaviors, or thought patterns, it can hold us back from living the life God intended for us. In fact, addictions to substance or drugs, porn, masturbation, phone, gossip etc. serves as a blockage to our relationship with God and most times makes it difficult for us to go to the presence of God with boldness. It doesn't just hold us back, it destroys us at the end if help doesn't come. As believers, we have the power to break free from addiction through Christ. 2 Corinthians 5:17 reminds us that when we come to Christ, we become new creations. The old is gone, and the new is here! Steps to Breaking Addiction: 1. Acknowledge and confess: Recognize the addiction and confess it to God and a trusted friend or mentor. Talk to a professional eg. Psychologist or counsellor. 2. Seek support: Surround yourself with people who will support and encourage you in your journey to freedom. 3. Find healthy alternatives: Replace the addictive behavior with healthier habits and activities. 4. Cultivate self-care: Take care of your physical, emotional, and spiritual needs. 5. Surrender to God: Daily surrender your struggles to God, asking for His strength and guidance. Addiction is a compulsive force, without God's grace and strength it'll be impossible to break it. Prayer: Dear Lord, in Jesus' name help me break free from the addiction that's holding me back. Give me the strength and courage to seek support, find healthy alternatives, and cultivate self-care. I surrender my struggles to You, asking for Your guidance and empowerment. Thank you for setting me free in Christ Jesus. Steps to take: Take the first step today by acknowledging and confessing your addiction to God and a trusted friend or mentor/counsellor. Seek support and start your journey to freedom. Don't wait till it's too late. God is talking to you today, come 🫴 there's redemption in Christ Jesus. Additional Verse: - "No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it." - 1 Corinthians 10:13 (NIV). *Reality of Addiction* Addiction is a universal human experience. We're all addicted to something. Everyone either benefits or struggles with it, whether consciously or unconsciously, willingly or unwillingly. It's an inherent part of human nature to develop routines and habits that can either be destructive or empowering. The problem lies in recognizing these patterns. Often, it takes self-reflection or an outside perspective to acknowledge and identify addictive behaviors. Without awareness, it's easy to overlook the habits that hold us back. https://whatsapp.com/channel/0029VaycnaECnA80XKeArv3z

OVERCOMING DEPRESSION AND PAIN *Devotion:* Why We Need Jesus Scripture: "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life." - John 3:16 Jesus Christ offers the greatest hope in a world filled with darkness, wickedness, sin, and uncertainty, in such a world, we need a Savior. We need Jesus Christ. It's not a want, but a need that's so dire. Jesus Christ is standing at the door of your heart knocking. He's interested in trading your heavy burden for salvation and joy. In Matthew 11:30 (NIV) His words: "For my yoke is easy and my burden is light." This words re-echoes assurance and hope for humanity. Sin, worry and worldly expectations are heavy burden. Jesus Christ offers peace and rest. He offers healing and strength. This is what He came for, to give us hope. We need Jesus Christ because: - *Sin Separates Us from God*: Our sins create a barrier between us and God, making it impossible for us to have a meaningful relationship with Him. Jesus' sacrifice on the cross bridges this gap, reconciling us to God (Romans 5:10-11). - *We Are Lost Without Guidance*: Life's journey can be confusing and overwhelming. Jesus is the Good Shepherd who guides us, protects us, and gives us direction (John 10:11, 14-15). - *We Need Forgiveness and Mercy*: Jesus' death and resurrection provide forgiveness for our sins and offer us mercy when we fail. His sacrifice demonstrates God's love and desire to restore us to Himself (Ephesians 2:4-5). - *Jesus Gives Us Hope and Purpose*: In a world filled with pain and suffering, Jesus offers us hope and purpose. He reminds us that our struggles are temporary and that eternal life awaits those who trust in Him (1 Corinthians 15:50-57). Take a moment to reflect on your life. Are there areas where you feel lost, uncertain, or separated from God? Remember that Jesus is the answer to your deepest needs. He is the Savior, Guide, Forgiver, and Hope-Giver. *Prayer:* Dear Jesus, I acknowledge my need for You. I ask you to come into my heart. Thank You for sacrificing Yourself to bridge the gap between me and God. Thank you for taking away my heavy burden and sinfulness. Guide me, forgive me, and give me hope. I trust in Your love and mercy. Thank you for answering my prayers in Jesus' Name 🙏 🙏 *Additional scripture:* "But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us." - Romans 5:8 Kindly share and follow us on: Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/share/15egYTUqJL/ WhatsApp: https://whatsapp.com/channel/0029VaycnaECnA80XKeArv3z Stay Blessed

OVERCOMING DEPRESSION AND PAIN Devotion: God Chose You **Scripture Reading: 1 Peter 2:9-10 (NIV)** "But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God's special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. Once you were not a people, but now you are the people of God; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy." In a world filled with uncertainty and self-doubt, the truth that *God has chosen you* should bring immense comfort and encouragement. The Bible assures us that we are not mere accidents or afterthoughts; we are chosen with purpose and intentionality. God sees value in each of us and calls us His special possession. There are over 8 billion people around the world, but God hears you when you call unto Him, He has chosen you for a special purpose in the place you're, right now and right there. Understanding that you are part of a "royal priesthood" instills a sense of identity and belonging. You are not only chosen; you are also a representative of God's glory. This identity comes with the responsibility to live in a way that honors Him and reflects His light to others, especially to those who still dwell in darkness. You're the light of God's great glory, shine your light in Christ Jesus and bring people to your brightness. "You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit—fruit that will last—and so that whatever you ask in my name the Father will give you." John 15:16 Don't allow hard times and challenges plant doubts in your mind and heart about your relevance and place in the kingdom of God. You're not forsaken, you're chosen and loved. Reflect on what it means to you personally that God chose you. Consider the areas of your life where you may feel inadequate or overlooked. How can you embrace your identity as a chosen person in those situations? Spend some time in prayer, thanking God for His mercy and grace in your life. Ask Him to help you live in a way that declares His praises. Remember, you are part of a larger family of believers—a community that God has brought together for His glory. Declare the change you want to see, don't succumb to the situation at hand. Hard times for Christians are avenues for your faith to grow. **Prayer:** Dear Lord, thank You for choosing me and for the incredible identity You have given me as Your child. Help me to live fully in this truth and to share Your light with those around me. May my life be a reflection of Your love and mercy. I overcome every challenges and setbacks in Jesus' Name Amen. OVERCOMING DEPRESSION AND PAIN TOPIC: "God Sees Our Secret Life" Scripture: "He watches the way that people live. They can go anywhere that they want. But he will always be able to see them." Job 34:21 Easy English. "The eyes of the Lord are everywhere, observing the wicked and the good." - Proverbs 15:3 (NIV) Have you ever felt like you're getting away with something, like no one is watching or judging your actions? Maybe you've hidden your struggles or sins from others, thinking you can keep them under wraps. But the truth is, God sees everything, even our secret lives. His sight permeates our secrecy to our most hidden thoughts and feelings. Job 34:21 reminds us that God's eyes are on us, watching our every step. He sees our motivations, our desires, and our actions. Nothing is hidden from Him. This truth can be both comforting and convicting. On one hand, it's reassuring to know that God is always with us, even in our darkest moments. On the other hand, it's humbling to realize that our secrets are not hidden from Him. We can hide everything from our fellow men, but not from the Almighty. This is why, you don't have to get comfortable with secret sin or habits. So, what does this mean for us? It means we can't hide from God, but we don't have to. We can come to Him with honesty, humility and transparency, confessing our sins, weaknesses and struggles. We can trust that He sees us, knows us, and loves us anyway. Nothing and no one is beyond redemption. Your imperfections are the reason you need God the most. Today, He's calling you to come 🫴 Come to Christ Jesus 🙏 Prayer: Dear Lord, thank You for seeing me, even when I try to hide. Help me to live a life of transparency and honesty before You. I confess my sins, pains and struggles, and I trust in Your love and forgiveness. May I live in the light of Your presence, knowing that You see my every step. Kindly share Follow us ..
