*Fire guts 3 houses at Nawabazar* KNO Correspondent Srinagar, Feb 23 (KNO): Three residential houses were gutted in an early morning blaze that broke out in the Nawabazar area of Srinagar's old city on Sunday. An official told the news agencyโ€”Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that the fire broke out in one of the houses around 7: 20 AM and it quickly spread to two others, causing significant damage. "Personnel of Fire & Emergency Services rushed to the spot to contain the flames. There was no loss of life or injuries reported in the incident," he added. The cause of the fire is under investigationโ€”(KNO)

*Speaker warns MLAs over giving publicity to House Business notices* *Says it constitutes breach of privilege; against established parliamentary practices and conventions* Jammu, Feb 23 (KNO): Amid some MLAs giving publicity to notices submitted by them in the Legislative Assembly regarding Business of the House to be taken up during the ensuing budget session, the Speaker Abdul Rahim Rather has expressed displeasure over this practice saying that this is against the parliamentary practices, conventions and established rules. The move comes at a time when some MLAs party had launched a media campaign over notices given by them in connection with business of the House. A communique issued here today in this regard by the Legislative Assembly, said the Speaker has observed that, "According to Parliamentary Practice, usage and established convention, and prevalent Rules of this House, it is improper to give unwarranted publicity to the Notices of Questions, Bills, Resolutions and other similar matters connected with Business of the Houseโ€. He expressed displeasure against the Members responsible for such publicity which tantamounts to breach of Privilege as per the prescribed Rules and directed the Members to desist from this practice in future, read the document. Reaffirming commitment towards upholding the sanctity of legislative business, a spokesperson of the Legislative Assembly said the Speaker has issued a directive to ensure strict compliance of the prescribed rules, exhorting the members to observe and honour parliamentary conventions and refrain from premature disclosure of the business to be carried out in the Houseโ€”(KNO)

*Amid massive searches in Jammu, GOC Sachdeva chairs joint security review meeting* *Operations being conducted in response to presence of terrorists* *Hunt will continue till region is sanitized, made terror free* Yogesh Jammu, Feb 22 (KNO): As security forces launched massive search operations in Jammu region on Saturday to tighten noose around the terrorists, General Officer Commanding White Knight Corps Lt Gen Navin Sachdeva chaired a joint security review meeting with focus on maintaining peace in the province. According to the details available with the news agencyโ€”Kashmir News Observer (KNO) the searches conducted by a joint team of J&K Policeโ€™s Special Operations Group led to the seizure of a substantial cache of arms and ammunition in Reasi District. โ€œThe hideout, located in the remote Simbli-Shajroo forest area near Chakrass in Mahore was busted following credible intelligence inputs,โ€ an official said. He said that among the items recovered were four Under Barrel Grenade Launchers (UBGLs), one filled and three empty AK-47 magazines, 268 rounds of AK-47 ammunition, and four packets of detonators. Another official told KNO that in the Pir Panjal area, multiple operations were initiated, with several joint operations carried out in the Doda-Kishtwar region. โ€œSimilar operations have been launched in the Udhampur ,โ€he added. Cordon and search operations were also conducted in Mohalla Qasba, Allapir, Jaalian in Mandi, and Mankote in Poonch district. Other key areas under operation include Dera Ki Gali, Sunderbani, and Nowshera sectors in Rajouri district, the official said. Several locations in Poonch-Rajouri and higher reaches of Udhampur, Kathua, Doda, and Kishtwar, with a focus on Khaderan forest, are under active search, the official said. โ€œThese operations are being conducted in response to the presence of terrorists in the region. Searches will continue till the Jammu region is sanitized and made terror free,โ€ he added. *GOC SACHDEVA CHAIRS SECURITY REVIEW MEETING* Meanwhile, General Officer Commanding of Jammu-based White Knight Corps Lt Gen Navin Sachdeva on Saturday chaired a joint security review meeting in Jammu with focus on maintaining peace in the region. The meeting was held amid intensified search operations across Jammu to counter terrorists, who have shown their presence in different districts of the division by carrying out a number of attacks last year. โ€œA Joint security review meeting chaired by GOC White Knight Corps was conducted along with representatives of intelligence agencies, J&K Police, and CRPF (Central Reserve Police Force). *Police registers first-ever (e-FIR) via WhatsApp in Handwara* *February 22:* ```In a groundbreaking move towards digital policing, Police Station Vilgam in Handwara has registered its first electronic First Information Report (e-FIR) following a complaint lodged via WhatsApp. The complaint was filed by Imtiyaz Ahmad Dar, son of Mohd Assadullah Dar, a resident of Hanjipora, Kupwara, the driver of SRTC bus No. JK01Y-1121. According to the complaint, the incident occurred earlier today while Imtiyaz was traveling from Tarathpora to Srinagar. He alleged that upon reaching Vilgam, he was wrongfully restrained and physically assaulted by two individuals namely Ashiq Hussain Bhat and Gowher Ahmad Bhat, sons of Samad Bhat residents of Shehnipora, Vilgam. The accused reportedly caused him physical injuries during the altercation. In response to the complaint, Police Station Vilgam swiftly registered the e-FIR, marked as FIR No. 09/2025 under Sections 115(2) and 126(2) of the BNS of Police Station Vilgam Handwara. This landmark step highlights the growing integration of technology within law enforcement systems, setting a precedent for faster and more accessible justice delivery mechanisms in the region.```
