*Enzymes in Bread* Q: "I read Ml. Nauman's fatwa on cheese enzymes. Very informative. Is this the same ruling for enzymes found in bread? What if the bread has the U Dairy sign?” https://daruliftaa.us/fatwa/651/ --- _Visit DarulIftaa.us to ask questions, search for answers, and add favorites to your profile._ _*Remember to turn on notifications on the top right of the screen.*_

*Qurbani for a Married Couple* Q: "Should husband and wife do separate qurbānī, or can one animal like a goat or sheep be sufficient for the entire family? If the wife is financially independent and has a job, is she obligated to do qurbānī separately? What if the husband and wife do separate qurbānī, who would add the kids into their portion? Assuming that, is qurbānī necessary on behalf of the children, as well?” https://daruliftaa.us/fatwa/699/ --- _Visit DarulIftaa.us to ask questions, search for answers, and add favorites to your profile._ _*Remember to turn on notifications on the top right of the screen.*_

*Non-Monetary Gambling* Q: "Is gambling only when wealth is involved? For example, if we do a completion (like a race or fantasy football) and say loser has to do pushups or clean the bathroom, is that gambling? Or is it only when wealth is involved, i.e., loser pays for everyone? ” https://daruliftaa.us/fatwa/675/ --- _Visit DarulIftaa.us to ask questions, search for answers, and add favorites to your profile._ _*Remember to turn on notifications on the top right of the screen.*_

*Financial Responsibility Toward Elderly Parents* Q: "Who bears the responsibility of financially supporting elderly parents who are not fully independent? Firstly, is the financial obligation confined to fulfilling only their basic necessities, or does it extend beyond that? Secondly, if a couple has both sons and daughters, are both genders obligated or recommended to contribute, or is the responsibility limited to the sons? In this case, the daughters are married but have their own income. Furthermore, if financial contribution is required from multiple children, is there a specific criterion for the division of responsibility — for example, should it be divided equally among them, or should it be proportionate to each child’s financial capacity? Or is there a difference between the genders? Please also note that in this situation, the children are not disputing the responsibility; rather, they simply wish to know if there are any guidelines or recommendations stipulated in the Sharīʿah regarding this matter. I am somewhat confused because it is commonly stated that the financial responsibility for parents lies solely upon the male children. Could you kindly clarify this?” https://daruliftaa.us/fatwa/666/ --- _Visit DarulIftaa.us to ask questions, search for answers, and add favorites to your profile._ _*Remember to turn on notifications on the top right of the screen.*_

*Udhiyya on Disbudded Animals* Q: "I had a question on doing uḍḥiyya on animals that have been disbudded. It is common in some places to save the animals from harming other animals or their handlers. Will the uḍḥiyya be valid on such cattle?” https://daruliftaa.us/fatwa/749/ --- _Visit DarulIftaa.us to ask questions, search for answers, and add favorites to your profile._ _*Remember to turn on notifications on the top right of the screen.*_

*Pulling Someone Behind to Avoid Being Alone in a Saff* Q: "When starting a new row in jamāʿa, should one start from the middle behind the imam or the side of the Masjid? Also, if a person is by themselves in that new row should they pull someone from in front of them back? If that's the case wouldn't that cause a gap in the front row?” https://daruliftaa.us/fatwa/709/ --- _Visit DarulIftaa.us to ask questions, search for answers, and add favorites to your profile._ _*Remember to turn on notifications on the top right of the screen.*_

*Outside Financing* Q: "Our family owns a dealership. We do not offer in-house financing, also known as "Buy here Pay here". As that is when the dealership themselves loans the vehicle out to the customer and also collect the payments for it. We do however offer 'outside financing'. Where the customer is setup with a financing lender. The financing lender charges the dealership a lender fee in order to give the loan to the customer. Then it gives the payment of the car at once to the dealer. This is usually 70-90% of the vehicle's asking price. The customer then does monthly payments for the agreed upon price and length to the finance company/bank. This way the dealership doesn't get any money from interest or anything. And it is between the customer and the bank. However, in order to do this, the finance companies require us to have an application filled out from the customer, which just comprises of basic personal and employment information. The application is sent to Bank/finance company by us. The bank sends back an approval, or a decline and we convey it to the customer. If agreed upon, the bank sends us the paperwork which we have to get signed from the customer. This paperwork states the apr%, monthly payment and length of the loan. (The bank sometimes gives us the option to increase the apr% in order for us to get more money but we never do this.) We do not get any interest money, in fact we don't even get the entire asking price of the car since a lender fee is charged to us. Would this limited facilitation of facilitating the loan be permissible since we are not involved in any impermissible contract but are required to submit the application and get paperwork signed from the customer. If not, then what is a viable alternative to go about doing this. As not offering even outside financing is not practical nor is telling the customer to get his on loan as no one would be willing to do that. (It is possible to assign this to a non-Muslim employee but hard to guarantee it 100% of the time.) In addition, to incentivize us giving the deal to a particular bank. In addition some banks give us milestone bonuses for us working with them. Usually it's a couple hundred to a few hundred dollars. Would these bonuses be permissible to take. It is sent to us via an automated system so we can't opt out of it. Can we take such bonuses from the fiancé company/bank and if not how would we go about discarding the wealth. Obviously, there are countless Muslim dealerships and all of them do something like this. So, would want to know how they go about it? Additionally, to my understanding it is permissible to sell a warranty if it's done in the same transaction as the item and not individually. Is that that the correct understanding? Also, how about 'Gap Insurance' would that be permissible to sell with a vehicle, we do not get money from the gap insurance. We just get a set commission amount if we sell it.” https://daruliftaa.us/fatwa/671/ --- _Visit DarulIftaa.us to ask questions, search for answers, and add favorites to your profile._ _*Remember to turn on notifications on the top right of the screen.*_

*Thana for the Latecomer* Q: "If a person is masbūq (late-comer) for ṣalāh, does he read the thanāʾ? Does this change if it is a jahrī (out loud) or a sirrī (silent) ṣalāh? What if he is not masbūq but he joined the ṣalāh when the imam already started the recitation?” https://daruliftaa.us/fatwa/674/ --- _Visit DarulIftaa.us to ask questions, search for answers, and add favorites to your profile._ _*Remember to turn on notifications on the top right of the screen.*_

*Purifying Money in Target Funds* Q: "My husband has been working for 20 years. I was looking at our income to purify over the past year from sitting in the money market and realized we've had a decent amount of money in target funds and around 10% of those funds are bonds. I've called the financial company to help me identify how much money interest were collected from bonds within the target funds but they were not able to tell me. Nor were they able to tell my husband had money in these funds from 20 years ago, if funds were changed, etc. I intend to move them out of target funds, but what is the best way to purify this money?” https://daruliftaa.us/fatwa/495/ --- _Visit DarulIftaa.us to ask questions, search for answers, and add favorites to your profile._ _*Remember to turn on notifications on the top right of the screen.*_
