Laventille Man Fatally Stabbed Outside Home, Suspect in Custody https://m.tringlobe.com/singlereport.php?val=new&adsid=6752

Woman reportedly being beaten at La Brea Junction.

Pastor befriended mentally unstable woman so he could steal her house, land and other valuables after her death Relatives of the late Cindy Sutherland, a woman who suffered from schizophrenia for 23 years, are proposing legal action against Pastor *********. They accuse him of illegally attempting to take possession of Ms. Sutherland's property following her death. The alleged exploitation began in July 2024 when Ms. Sutherland's motor vehicle collided with Pastor's. During their exchange, Ms. Sutherland, who had a documented history of mental illness, invited Pastor to her home, where she reportedly offered him all her furniture for $2,500, a sum he accepted. Relatives contend that Pastor, recognizing Ms. Sutherland's mental instability, befriended her for personal gain. By October 2024, he allegedly took her into his custody, discontinued her medication, and isolated her from her family. This prompted Ms. Sutherland's family to file a missing persons report with the police station, leading to her eventual reappearance. The situation escalated dramatically with Ms. Sutherland's death on April 10, 2025. An autopsy is pending, with tests being conducted due to elevated toxic levels found in her system. On Monday, April 14, just days after her death, Pastor contacted a relative via WhatsApp, claiming to be the executor of Ms. Sutherland's will. He asserted the will, purportedly signed by Attorney at Law ****** and her Admin Assistant ******, declared him the new owner of Ms. Sutherland's property in Curepe and her Toyota Yaris Cross vehicle. He then proceeded to change the locks on the property, barring family members from entry. Further complicating matters, a lease agreement was presented on April 18, 2025, from Attorney at Law ******. This document stated that Ms. Sutherland had leased her property to Pastor from October 1, 2024, to October 1, 2027, for church-related activities. Concerns about Ms. Sutherland's mental capacity at the time of these alleged agreements are paramount. She frequently received treatment at St. Ann's Hospital and was known to experience hallucinations and battle with multiple personalities, rendering her incapable of making sound decisions. Relatives emphasize that no psychiatrist was present to evaluate her mental health when Pastor claimed she signed these crucial documents. While Pastor told an officer at the police station that the lawyers were able to determine she was of sound mind, family members question the logic of someone granting legal rights to all their assets to a person they met only three months prior. On Wednesday, April 16, Pastor attempted to claim Ms. Sutherland's body at the Port of Spain General Hospital. He reportedly identified himself as her grandson – despite her having no children, biological or adopted – and presented copies of her identification card along with a letter from the ***. His apparent intention was to swiftly obtain the death certificate to solidify the alleged will, likely believing Ms. Sutherland's two surviving siblings in the United States would not intervene. However, Ms. Sutherland's brother, who resides in Trinidad, had already claimed the body. Hospital officials refused Pastor's request, finding the documents suspicious and noting his persistent insistence on cremation. The body was subsequently released to her brother. A pre-action protocol letter from the law firm **************** was served to him on April 18, 2025, threatening legal action if he does not desist. Ms Sutherland was buried on the 1st May, 2025
