Our work is about women - this month and every month! We want more women at the tables of power. The system isn’t working for women, men are massively overrepresented and there are too many barriers. We are working to fix the system to make democracy better for everyone!

How do we change outcomes? Better representation. Minoritised women make up 9% of the population but only 3% of local representatives. The Muslim Women’s Network UK’s (MWNUK) latest partnership reveals barriers into elected office & once there the institutional barriers that exist, partly due to the gendered division of councillor duties. This research provides 15 ways to fix the system & improve representation! We are holding twice monthly candidate clinics for anyone, in our community, who wants help to run to be a councillor, an MSP, an MS, a Mayor...a county councillor. Cllr Siobhan Paterson Upper Braes is awesome, last Sunday she held a "First Step to Stand" workshop in Falkirk Council. Every council has the capacity to run one, we'll support you with the toolkit & we'll help you create an inspriing event!
