Happening now… Energy and Petroleum CS, Hon. Opiyo Wandayi, E.G.H., is on the ground at the Baringo-Silali Geothermal Project, where he will be witnessing the discharge of a geothermal well at Paka field—another milestone for GDC as we harness geothermal energy for Kenya. CS Wandayi is also laying the foundation stone for Chepungus Model School and handing over a boat to the Lake Baringo Beach Management Unit—both initiatives supported by GDC. GDC remains committed to both geothermal resource development and community empowerment within our project areas. The CS is accompanied by Energy PS, Mr. Alex Wachira, Baringo Governor, H.E. Hon. Benjamin Cheboi, County Commissioner, Mr. Stephen Kutwa, and area leaders.

Wandayi, has officially handed over a new boat provided by GDC to the Loruk Beach Management Unit during his visit to the Baringo-Silali Geothermal Project. The boat will enhance safety and efficiency on the lake, reinforcing GDC’s commitment to supporting livelihoods alongside its geothermal development efforts.

GDC’s Geothermal Resource Assessment (GRA) team, comprising experts in Geophysics and Geographic Information Systems (GIS), is currently conducting an infill exercise on the eastern side of the Silali Caldera. The exercise involves conducting resistivity tests and marking crucial coordinates, key inputs for well-targeting.
