The floor must be made of concrete to ensure easy cleaning and disinfection The floor must be covered with wood shavings , saw dust or grass to prevent the birds from having direct contact with the concrete floor . This prevents chilling and contamination of the floor
Predators like snakes and thieves usually attack the poultry house ,so the house must be secured
Don't forget to set up a footbath in front and at vantage points of your farm
The droppings of poultry birds mixed with the litter is a major source of farmyard manure for crop production
The litter ( wood shavings , saw dust or grass ) must be raked occasionally to prevent pests and Diseases build up , the build up of obnoxious gasses in the poultry house
The poultry house should be well oriented to allow sunlight and ventilation The house should have vent openings like windows and doors but must be secured
