Sabbath means Christ has drawn me into His rest. I have been rescued from the labour of my judgment of myself into the judgment of His love, which is the true rest that causes me to co-labour with God over men. I love because He loved.

The proof of the resurrection is a saint that loves other men as God has loved humanity in Christ. The resurrection unchains your heart from hating others.

When saints who want to submit to the lead of good pastors meet with elders who want to guard, guide and nurture scripturally, the spirit of God works the mighty miracle of fellowship in our local assemblies.

(Find below the answer I gave in private to someone who asked me a question about a certain song. The person felt that more people could be helped by the answer.) I see Bro Gaise Baba's song is causing tremors, quakes, and ripples. As usual, the saints are needlessly going after each other’s throats … What of Tinted hair ……? Fact is, Age(ing) itself tints your hair. Sunlight also changes hair tint. Drugs/Medication can tint hair. Disease also tints people’s hair. The food you eat tints your hair. Genetics also tints hair. Personally, my hair went white when I turned 40. Genetics tinted my hair big time. Also, Everyone who uses hair cream or any chemical on their natural hair ends up tinting it - even if in tiny measures over time. Some people have a style that tints their hair in obvious ways. It is no big deal. What if some people are offended by such tints? There are always "some" people who will always be offended. As saints, we don’t set out to be offensive. That is the key. Someone who uses hair cream will hate your haircut, or the fact that you use hair extensions, or that you even do/make your hair at all. To them, hair cream is natural. Tint is not. Again, what people find acceptable has a lot to do with the period in history in which they live - a hybrid of the place, culture, and bias mixed together. So, just be sure you don’t set out to be offensive - 1 Cor 10:32. The rest, the Lord helps us all. *What of Afrobeat tune, Afro tempo, Afro style ……?* All beats are expressions of human emotion. They also reflect the times and culture. There is a way that people in the Middle East, North Africa and North East Africa do music. Those cultures have interacted for thousands of years, so, understandably, they all have similar tunes. An Israeli tune is not more biblical than an Iranian, Persian, or Congolese tune. Some people mistakenly assume songs must sound Western in order to be sanctified. Moses sang in Exodus 15:1 - This was just after the great Exodus of Exodus 14 The crowd that sang with Moses had been in Egypt for centuries. In addition, Moses, the leader of the group, was Egyptian-trained. Had also been raised in Pharaoh’s palace. His musical taste, as well as that of the crowd, would be Egyptian. We have to allow for Moses' Egyptian influences. Moses even dressed Egyptian (see Ex 2:19). Therefore, Moses’ song would have been sung to Egyptian genre, beat, and style (whatever name you call it). Moses did not record the genre because that was unimportant. The style/genre is no big deal. Shouldn't be. Moses would likely have called it Egypto-gospel. Some people would have complained back then like they complained of Moses choice of wife. People are people. Take note of what Moses preserved - The message. This is what we must contend for. All else is case-by-case. The song is in its words and message. That is the God-advantage. Afterwards, when Miriam sang in Exodus 15:20-21 She went with instruments She went with dance. The instruments would have been Egyptian technology The dance steps would have been Egyptian too. Would Miriam have taken instruments she does not know how to use? Or instruments that she or the people dont like? Take note of what Moses preserved - The message. That is what is key! We don’t know the actual dance steps. We’ll use different instruments today. The song is in its words and message. That is the God-advantage. The divine beat is the message of the song. All else associated with the song is an expression of human emotion. Afro gospel, Egypto gospel … it is all neither here nor there. No particular style or Genre carries the divine breath better than another. It is men who are the temple of God. God does not break a sweat over these things. *What of the energy, tempo ……?* When we discuss tempe, this is Rom 14:3 territory… Personally, I see why some would want certain songs done in a sober tune or tone … I see where they are coming from. People canvassing for singing songs of consecration in a sober tone or to a minor key have their point and should not be dismissed. However, with the best of intentions, they are at best, proposing human preference. Why can we be sure of this? The Bible does not prescribe tones, tune, or tempo of music or songs. Once again, the written word does not command that we insist on a certain tempo or beat for any of our songs. The word commands commitment without governing the mood, tone, and beat of the songs that give it expression. The key thing is to express it - better still to live it! God sees the heart and accepts men. Some men will express their consecration in a subdued tone. Others will express their consecration in a loud tone or beat. What matters is that all live out the consecration. We are humans. We cannot know which “vibe” correctly captures consecration. We are not God. While it is true that, just because something is accepted by the public, it doesn't mean it is acceptable with God, in the same vein, we must also realise that the fact that something is unaccepted by some men doesn't mean it's unacceptable with God. Should you sing consecration songs with tears? Dry-faced? I am not sure anyone can regulate that. Sing with your emotions fully engaged. Lend your emotion and all of your heart to such singing. Sing from the depths of your heart. Sing laughing. Sing crying. Just sing from the heart. Let’s fill our songs with the word of God. Saturate it with spirit power. Stir the emotions of men onto greater zeal and service. Anticipate that men will catch holy fire. The fact is, all that some will get is the catchy tune, dance, or skits, but we trust God that Jesus is revealed in clarity and holy fire around the world. If some don't catch that fire, let us ensure that we catch it and run with it! In all, let’s dialogue respectfully. Let’s disagree even. Let’s even anticipate that we will disagree because we will see the simplest of things differently, but let’s avoid judging or condemning one another on matters where the scriptures encourage us to retain our own persuasion while receiving one another in love and in gospel joy. What if you don't like the Gaise Baba song? That is fine. What if you prefer the traditional way of singing that song? That is also fine.

Musings on Galatians 2:1-14 Galatians 2:1-14 is an interesting read. It has a way of exposing what is in the hearts of men, many centuries after it occurred in Antioch. Antioch is playing out daily. Tellingly, today, and to our shame, many ministers will not do what Paul did here. We have developed a new wordology and phrasing that is so fuzzy and powerless. Paul let all of Galatia know that; He considered Peter, James, and John to be men of reputation - they were men whom he held in the highest esteem. He considered Peter a pillar. He considered Peter one whom God worked in mightily to penetrate the Jewish world. He considered Peter an apostle of the circumcision He was glad they recognised the hand of God in his life. He was appreciative of their extending ministerial fellowship to him. He was mightily encouraged that they saw that God worked mightily in Paul to penetrate the Gentile world. He received instruction from Peter and the other pillars (James and John), and he publicly stated and abided by their instruction to him. Paul also opposed Peter’s stance publicly because Peter had publicly poisoned the leaders and, by extension, encouraged the assemblies to move away from the grace of God with his example. Brethren, these apostles were brethren and not politicians posturing as bible men. The episode says a lot that is highly commendable about Peter. He was a minister whom another minister, who was not part of the “James, John, and Peter” holy trinity, could address like Paul did. Interestingly, Paul does not address the men who came from James. He does not address the men that had influenced Peter. Paul set the example of how people who know the truth of the Good News of Jesus Christ should react when people try to pervert it, change it, and corrupt the good manners of the church with political poison. Paul did not celebrate Peter publicly while opposing him privately. He was not playing to the galleries. Paul was not a politician! Peter too! Was Paul confronting Peter’s stance from a position of malice? Rebellion? Competitive jealousy? The wording and context that Paul wrote down in Galatians 2 shows that Paul’s rebuke was not competition. He spoke to preserve sanity and to help heal the rift that was already causing schism between the gentile saints and the Jewish saints. Thank God for the beautiful conscience of Peter. As a minister, I ask myself, “Do I live in such a way that a “Paul”, who started ministry long after me, can relate with me like Paul related with Peter in Antioch?” We need more ministers like Peter today. What a model of greatness and meekness. … to be continued

Musings on Mark 11:27-30 27. And they come again to Jerusalem: and as he was walking in the temple, there come to him the chief priests, and the scribes, and the elders, 28. And say unto him, By what authority doest thou these things? and who gave thee this authority to do these things? 29. And Jesus answered and said unto them, I will also ask of you one question, and answer me, and I will tell you by what authority I do these things. 30. The baptism of John, was it from heaven, or of men? answer me. Observe the question that the chief priests, scribes and elders asked Jesus, "By what authority doest thou these things? and who gave thee this authority to do these things?" The chief priests, scribes and elders asked Jesus questions about His ministry. These questions had to do with the origins of Jesus ministry amongst men. Jesus' response is mind-bending and worthy of study. He gave them a clue that had to do with their estimation of the baptism of John. John had said, "I knew him not: but that he should be made manifest to Israel, therefore am I come baptizing with water" (see John 1:31). John is saying that he was the one through whose ministry Jesus had been made manifest to Israel. The baptism of John marked the start of Jesus' ministry. John bore witness to Jesus (see John 1:34) and he got men ready in order that they might receive Jesus' ministry. In everyday parlance, the baptism of John is the means by which John had "launched" Jesus into ministry. In Mark 11:27-30, when Jesus drew the attention of the chief priests, scribes and elders to the baptism of John, He was making them aware how He had been "launched" into ministry by John - a man. If language means anything, our precious Lord Jesus is performing the equivalent of beating His chest, while affirming that the baptism of John was His ordination to ministry. We won't have anticipated this but the fact is that the almighty God, who had the secrets of the molecular life of John, is found bragging that a man, had "ordained" Him into ministry. The ways of God! ... to be continued
