*Chaminuka sets sights on derby* 16 May 2025 _Story by Jeremiah Gora_ https://chat.whatsapp.com/CQ3v0guBSmd0G4HaBxc69y My wish is to win against CAPS United on Sunday because it will bring a lot of confidence to the boys, new Dynamos FC head coach Saul Chaminuka has said. Ahead of Sunday's Harare derby at Rufaro Stadium, which many are tipping to be a dull affair, Dynamos coach Saul Chaminuka met with the media in Harare earlier today. Chaminuka, who recently parted ways with Kwekwe United FC, joked that he had previously been planning to beat Dynamos, but now as the new Dynamos coach, he would be strategizing to secure wins for DeMbare. "I have been busy planning how to beat Dynamos FC, and I am hoping that since I am here today, I will be able to plan and win for Dynamos FC consistently if it allows us to. As you can see behind me, the boys are busy preparing for Sunday's match, and we are going to do our best. "We will try all the strategies we can, and hopefully, we will win. People will start coming in anticipation of the exciting matches we will play and win," said Chaminuka. The new coach expressed concern over the team's lack of goals, lamenting that finding the back of the net had become a significant challenge. Dynamos had managed to score only 2 goals in their first 11 games, with one of those goals being an own goal conceded by Telone in their match against the side. "I am worried about goals, but I think it is not just about Dynamos; the entire league is struggling with goal-scoring. If one team scores more than two goals in a game, it is a rare occurrence. As a new coach, alongside Ian Bakala, I believe that with time, the players will respond to our approach, and we will start scoring goals. In a few weeks, we will be in a better position to compete. "When I look at football, I see it as a game that requires a lot of time and investment to achieve desirable results. We are building on what the players already know, and I am confident that we will come out of this situation and start winning games. "My wish is to win against CAPS United on Sunday because it will bring a lot of confidence to the boys. A win will boost their confidence, and I believe that if we win, we will be difficult to stop. I see a lot of fans coming to this game because of the changes we have made," he said. The coach urged Dynamos fans to come out in large numbers and rally behind the team on Sunday, hoping their support would spark a much-needed turnaround. "I want to say to our fans that you are the 12th player, and we need your support. Come and see what we have done since dropping points against Triangle United FC. Being a coach on demand is not just about luck; it is about how I approach the game, plan well, and sometimes a bit of luck. "I came to Dynamos FC after seeing how they play, and I believe that with the material they have, we will become an unstoppable team given time," said Chaminuka. Saul Chaminuka, who narrowly missed out on winning the league with ZPC Kariba, is a nomad in football, having previously coached ZPC Kariba, Green Fuel, Bikita Minerals, and Kwekwe United FC in recent years. Meanwhile, several Dynamos supporters' chapters are urging their members to boycott Sunday's match in protest of the team's dismal performance, sparking concerns about attendance at the Harare derby. The DeMbare faithful, affectionately known as the "7mita", are voicing their concerns over the team's performance, with some fans even calling for the departure of Bernard Lusengo Marriot. Some Dynamos fans have indicated plans to gather at designated spots for parties and braais instead of attending Sunday's match, expressing their frustration with the team's recent performances. _follow channel on the link below for more updates๐ https://whatsapp.com/channel/0029VaaNM6p9mrGjorVUNK3C

*Hon Garwe urges Chiefs to uphold cultural heritage* 15 May 2025 _Story by Jeremiah Gora_ The Minister of Local Government and Public Works, Honourable Daniel Garwe, has emphasized that traditional leaders have a significant role to play in upholding and preserving the country's rich cultural heritage. He made these remarks during the installation ceremony of Cde Vernon Muringani as Chief Maromo, which took place yesterday at Makumimavi Primary School in Chivhu. "Our chiefs have a critical role to play in preserving and promoting our cultural heritage, and it is their responsibility to safeguard the values and traditions that make us who we are. "Today, we gather to install Cde Vernon Muringani as Chief Maromo, just a few days after the successful installation of Chiefs Nyakuchena and Kareya, and this brings more chiefs to the esteemed body of traditional leaders in Mashonaland East, further strengthening our cultural institutions," said Hon Daniel Garwe. He further highlighted that the government is working tirelessly to restore all chieftainships that were abolished or disrupted by the colonial regime, as part of efforts to reclaim and preserve the country's rich cultural heritage. Hon Garwe emphasized that chiefs have a responsibility to ensure their subjects adhere to the laws of the country, striking a balance between cultural traditions and national obligations. "President of Zimbabwe, Cde Dr. E.D Mnangagwa, has made it clear that our nation stands firmly against early child marriages and gender-based violence, and as chiefs, it is your duty to ensure that those who violate these principles are brought to justice. "The chief's court is a recognized institution in our country, and as traditional leaders, you have a critical role to play in dispute resolution and administration of justice at the community level. "We have witnessed rampant deforestation in some areas, and it is your duty as chiefs to ensure that our natural resources are preserved for future generations. I urge you to take a leading role in environmental conservation," said Hon Garwe. The Minister of Health and Child Welfare, Hon Douglas Mombeshora, who was also Acting Chief Maromo, delivered a keynote address narrating the rich history of the Chikonamombe chieftainship during the installation ceremony. "We extend our profound gratitude to the government, particularly the Ministry of Local Government and Public Works, for restoring the Chikonamombe chieftainship, thereby correcting a historical injustice that was perpetrated by the colonial regime. We now look forward to the restoration of areas that were unjustly taken from us, such as Marondamashanu and Rare," said Hon Mombeshora. The President of the Chiefs Council, Senator Chief Khumalo, congratulated Chief Maromo on his installation and officially welcomed him to the esteemed body of traditional leaders. "I would like to extend a warm welcome to Chief Maromo, joining the ranks of our esteemed traditional leaders. Notably, Chief Maromo is a young chief, joining the ranks of other youthful leaders like Chief Nyakuchena, and I believe this new generation of leaders will shape the future of our institution," said Senator Chief Khumalo. Despite the chilly weather conditions, the installation ceremony of Chief Maromo drew a large and enthusiastic crowd, demonstrating the significance of the occasion and the community's support for their newly installed chief. The ceremony was graced by the presence of several government ministers, including Minister of Transport and Infrastructural Development, Hon Felix Mhona, Minister of ICT, Hon Tatenda Mavetera, Minister of Health and Child Care, Hon Douglas Mombeshora, and Deputy Minister of Local Government, Hon Alfred Mavhunga, Minister of State for Mashonaland East, Hon Itayi Ndudzo. The occasion was also honored by the presence of several chiefs, led by Senator Chief Khumalo, who joined the community in celebrating the installation of Chief Maromo. Chief Maromo was Chikomba DCC Chairman before taking his new role. https://chat.whatsapp.com/CQ3v0guBSmd0G4HaBxc69y

He made the remarks during the graduation ceremony of 202 officer cadets at the Zimbabwe Military Academy in Gweru today. "I, therefore, call upon the younger officer corps, as well as service men and women across the defence forces of SADC, to continue guarding jealously this rich liberation heritage of cooperation and unwavering solidarity. You, the new crop in our militaries, have the weighty duty to be guarantors of regional peace and security "As the ZDF and sister defence forces here represented, I, thus, challenge you to jealously guard the peace and security of our region towards silencing the guns on the African continent. This is key to leaping forward our collective development aspirations, as well as the realisation of the Africa we all want," said the President. President Emmerson Mnangagwa applauded the graduands for their resilience in completing their training. "I thank you, the Commandant and staff of the Zimbabwe Military Academy, for producing โhigh-gradeโ Regular Officer Cadet graduates. The young men and women who walked into this compound, back in 2023, as civilians, walk out today, as professional military officers who embody the military culture, values and ethos. They are adequately prepared for the road ahead. Well done. "Turning to our graduands and the future leaders of our armed forces, I, applaud you for the fortitude and determination you exhibited during training and your resolve to accomplish your dreams to be commissioned in the Zimbabwe Defence Forces. Makorokoto. Amhlophe. "Your graduation confers on you, huge responsibilities associated with joining the ranks of officers, charged with the responsibility of commanding men and women,in circumstances of great peril," he said. The Commander-in-Chief went on to remind the graduands that graduation was just the first step and they must remain humble to achieve more. To be a successful career officer entails lifelong and continuous learning, training and education. Todayโs achievement is just a first step, embrace the lessons that lie ahead and the responsibilities that come with your commission with teachable spirits. "As you receive your commission today and begin to navigate your military professions, be conscious of the reverence our nation accords to the ZDF. Lead with unquestionable loyalty, patriotism and integrity. Remain mindful that โNyika inovakwa, inotongwa, inonamatirwa, inodzivirirwa nevene vayo. Ilizwe lakhiwa, libuswe, likhulekelwe, livikelwe, ngabanikazi balo. "Always serve with purpose and devotion to the enduring values that have made us a strong, united, peaceful and indomitable nation, even against the onslaught of illegal sanctions imposed on our motherland. "I once again urge the graduating officer cadet course to continue to uphold the proud tradition of Military Service with distinction and honour. Today, the torch is passed to you, as you join the ranks of the Officer Corps. In everything you do, may you live up to the proud traditions of those who came before you," said the President. He commended the strong relations between Zimbabwe and other Southern African countries, noting that the course had brought together officers from these nations. "The joint training of officer cadets, by the Zimbabwe Military Academy of officers from Sister Republics in the region is commendable. Such collaboration must be strengthened and scaled up as it aids in the interoperability among Defence Forces in our region, especially in the context of the SADC Mutual Defence Pact. "To this end, the presence of graduands from the Kingdom of Eswatini at this 40th Commissioning Parade of the Regular Officer Cadet Course is applauded. It reflects the role of institutions of the Zimbabwe Defence Forces as effective tools for our countryโs military diplomatic endeavours. "By the same token, members of the South African National Defence Forces are part of Regular Officer Cadet Course 3/42/24 that is currently underway. This not only affirms the quality and depth of programmes offered by the ZDF, but resonates with the long-standing unity of the peoples of SADC, including in the defence and security sector. This dates back to the days when we fought against racist colonialism, oppression and apartheid, for the freedom and independence of our respective countries," he said. Speaking on education, He challenged the academy to continue improving its curriculum and integrate new technologies to stay ahead. "Given the emerging centrality of technology in modern warfare, I challenge the Academy to deliberately expose our officer cadets to new fields, including Artificial Intelligence and how these impact the defence and security sector. "Ongoing efforts by the Zimbabwe Defence Forces to improve the Zimbabwe Military Academy as a centre of military excellence are commendable. Notable in this regard, is the introduction of a Bachelor of Science Honours Degree in Military Science and Leadership, which officer cadets now undertake concurrently, with the military phase of training. "It is my expectation that programmes such as this will ensure that cadets emerge from training as well-rounded professional officers. They must be equipped for an ever-evolving national and global arena which exerts intricate pressures on defence and security as well as the theatre of war. "Under the Second Republic, it is demanded that education and skills development extend beyond mere paper qualifications and positively impact the broader national developmental agenda. In this case, programmes offered by the ZDF should enhance and complement our national defence and security architecture and systems. "Distinguished Guests, Ladies and Gentlemen; The Zimbabwe Defence Forces has the sacred duty to uphold the Constitution of Zimbabwe. To inculcate this imperative, anchored by the spirit and letter of Section 212 of the Constitution, the Civil Military Relations curriculum, has become a critical cog in the cadet course. "This is helping to nurture and deepen the understanding of national ethos, values and objectives, which are the pillars of our strong state," he said. He provided a detailed breakdown of the course, including its curriculum and structure, which the 202 officer cadets had successfully completed. "About twenty-one months ago, these young men and women before us, commenced an extremely demanding journey to become well trained, competent and professional officers within the Zimbabwe Defence Forces. From the initial enrolment of 250 candidates, drawn from the Zimbabwe National Army, Air Force of Zimbabwe and two from Umbutfo Eswatini Defence Force, these 202 graduates, including 54 females and 148 males, made the grade. Two officer cadets from this course were seconded for Cadet Course Training in the Republic of Mozambique and are also graduating today. We say to you Congratulations, Makorokoto, Amhlophe. "It is praiseworthy that the Zimbabwe Defence Forces has taken bold strides to raise the number of female officer cadets enrolled at our strategic military institutions. By so doing, you are tapping the inherent potential of women to also contribute to our national defence, peace and security effort. Well done. "On a solemn note, we remember Officer Cadet Muzondo Joe Prosper, who passed on after the commencement of training. May His Soul Rest in Peace. "These young officers diligently undertook the course programme which was divided into three phases being, basic military training; conventional warfare; and low intensity operations. The subjects covered included Skill at Arms; Fieldcraft; Command and Leadership; Military Law; Law of Armed Conflict and Civil Military Relations, among other aspects," highlighted President Mnangagwa. The President concluded by thanking the families of the graduands and the Gweru community for their support.
