BARAK OUTLET on Instagram: "72 Weapons Surrendered in Manipur Amid Ongoing Security Operations Barakoutlet News Desk: In a significant step towards restoring peace in Manipur, the relentless efforts of Assam Rifles under the Spear Corps, in coordination with Manipur Police, civil administration, and other security forces, have led to the surrender of 72 weapons across various hill and valley districts, including Jiribam, Kangpokpi, Pherzawl, and Imphal East. In Kangpokpi district, locals voluntarily surrendered 16 weapons, including one 5.56 rifle, two Self-Loading Rifles (SLR), six single-barrel rifles, one .22 rifle, five tube launchers, and one locally made rocket launcher, along with ammunition and other war-like stores. In Pherzawl and Jiribam districts, 30 weapons were surrendered, comprising one carbine, five single/double-barrel rifles, 11 locally made single-barrel rifles, two .303 rifles, two 12-bore single-barrel rifles, one shotgun, one carbine machine gun, one tear gas gun, and six improvised mortars, along with additional ammunition and war-like stores. In Sagolmang, Imphal East district, nine weapons were surrendered, including one carbine, one .303 rifle, two country-made rifles, and five tubes. Meanwhile, a joint operation by the Indian Army and Manipur Police in Nngthoukhong resulted in the apprehension of two cadres and the recovery of two weapons—one single-bore barrel rifle and a pistol. Additionally, 15 weapons were surrendered, including one INSAS rifle, two 7.62 mm SLRs, one .22 rifle, six 12-bore rifles, and five improvised mortars. All recovered arms, ammunition, and explosives have been handed over to Manipur Police.
