For those who know me, I’m kinda passionate about the environment. So last week, I made some time to visit the site of shocking tree vandalism in Hunters Hill - to become part of Bennelong at the next election. Tbh It’s pretty disgusting. Like many of you I’m angry that this is happening so close to home. I want to do something about it. I've been in touch with Federal Environment Minister, Tanya Plibersek, and she has requested of the AFP that this matter be investigated under the Criminal Code Act 1995. Additionally, late last month, I met with Penny Sharpe MLC, Paul Scully MP , Mayor Zac Miles, Councillor Merri Southwood, East Ward - Lane Cove Council, Mayor Tanya Taylor to work towards a long-term solution to tree vandalism. I will keep you all updated as the State Government works with Councils on this issue. To some these plants are just trees. To me they’re part of our local history and heritage.
