*KECOSO Leadership and KAA Chairman Rally Government Support to Revive Iconic Games*
In a bid to revitalize the Kenya Communications Sports Organisation (KECOSO) Games, its leadership, alongside Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) Board Chairman Hon. Caleb Kositany, met with Principal Secretary for the State Department of Sports, Eng. Peter Tum, during a high-profile courtesy call today. The discussions centered on strategies to reinvigorate participation in the historic inter-ministry sports event and address systemic challenges threatening its legacy.
Hon. Kositany has pledged to propel KECOSO back to its “hay days.” He emphasized the games’ dual role in fostering affinity among employees of state corporations and promoting mental and physical wellness. “KECOSO Games are more than competitions—they are a platform for unity and healthy living across ministries and parastatals,” he stated.
Eng. Tum echoed this sentiment, affirming the government’s commitment to supporting KECOSO’s mandate. “We recognize the value of these games in nurturing talent and cohesion within the public sector. My office will work closely with KECOSO to tackle challenges such as funding shortfalls and declining membership,” the PS said.
The meeting follows last week’s deliberations between KECOSO officials and Hon. Kositany, where concerns over dwindling participation were laid bare. Despite having 13 member organizations, only five entities participated in the 2024 games hosted in Nakuru.
