*President Ruto Launches Garissa Airstrip Modernization Project* His Excellency Dr. William Samoei Ruto, President of the Republic of Kenya, today inspected the ongoing construction of the new, modern passenger terminal building at Garissa Airstrip and commissioned the upgrade of the facility's runway, along with the construction of a new taxiway and apron. This development signals a major boost for air transport and unlocks the huge economic potential for the region. The upgraded runway will be extended from 1.2km to 1.4km, enabling the airstrip to accommodate a wider range of aircraft and facilitate increased passenger and cargo traffic. Constructed in 1984, this is the first major renovation the airstrip has undergone.
