Moroccan scientists have played a key role in a historic discovery in the Mediterranean, where the international telescope KM3NeT detected a neutrino (particle) with a record energy level of approximately 220 PeV (220 million billion electron volts). This exceptional discovery, with a level of energy never before recorded in high-energy astrophysics, published in the prestigious journal Nature, was possible thanks to this international telescope, a massive detector that is the result of an international collaboration in which Morocco is an active member, Professor Yahya Tayalati, the national coordinator of the KM3NeT project in Morocco, told MAP.
