I welcome the engagement with President António Costa and his encouragement on the formation of the GNU as a demonstration of South Africa’s strong commitment to democracy and the rule of law. South Africa and the European Union, share the same values of democracy, human rights, dignity and equality. I look forward to our South Africa-EU Summit on the 13th of March 2025, to consolidate our strong bilateral partnership and to discuss, regional developments as well as continental and global issues.
