On January 27, 2025, a group of parents gathered at FIITJEE’s Sector 62 center in Noida, demanding government intervention and strict action against the coaching institute. The protest came after it was revealed that several centers, including those in Noida and Ghaziabad, were shut down without prior notice, causing significant distress among families. The Sudden Shutdown FIITJEE, one of India’s leading coaching institutes for engineering entrance exams, was at the center of controversy when its centers in the Delhi-NCR region abruptly ceased operations. According to the Noida Police, FIITJEE founder D.K. Goyal, along with key officials including the CFO Rajiv Babbar, COO Manish Anand, and the head of the Greater Noida branch Ramesh Batlesh, has been named in a police FIR following the closure of several centers. The closure was especially alarming, as many parents and students were unaware of what had happened. Parents stormed the Noida center, chanting slogans against the company for its lack of communication and fraudulent practices. Financial Impact on Parents and Students The sudden closure has left many parents scrambling for refunds and accountability. Mrinal, the father of a Class-11 student, shared his frustration with reporters, saying, "I have deposited over Rs 3 lakh in fees for my daughter, who had taken admission for the March session. I paid the full amount, but now the center has closed without warning." The uncertainty surrounding his daughter’s future education has left him demanding a refund and strict action against the institution. Many parents echoed his concerns, voicing that their children’s futures were now at risk due to the unplanned shutdown. Alok, the father of a Class-10 student, also expressed his dismay, stating, "I’ve paid for an entire session for my son, who is preparing for his board exams. Now, the institute is closed, and we have no recourse. We want a response from the institution and the government to protect our investments and ensure our children’s futures are not jeopardized." Other parents, like Avijit, whose child had already paid Rs 1.5 lakh in advance for the July session, described the situation as deeply distressing. "Over 1,500 students are affected by this closure. FIITJEE took our money in advance, and now they’ve shut the doors without any prior notice," he said, adding that parents are considering legal action to address the issue. FIITJEE’s Response and Legal Actions FIITJEE, which operates 73 centers across India, primarily provides coaching for competitive exams like JEE (Joint Entrance Examination). The Noida Police spokesperson confirmed that the Sector 62 center was open until January 21, 2025, but was unexpectedly closed an hour before its usual time. Shortly after, it was discovered that the center was permanently shut down, leaving over 2,000 students without information on how their studies would proceed. Some parents filed complaints with the police regarding the closure, and authorities investigated the incident. The police are now investigating the matter, following complaints from affected individuals like Satsang Kumar, a Greater Noida resident who raised the alarm about the sudden closure. The FIR also includes allegations of mismanagement and fraudulent activities linked to FIITJEE’s regional operations. Similar complaints have emerged from FIITJEE's East Delhi center in addition to the protests in Noida. More than 250 individuals have accused the institute of fraudulent practices, including the non-refund of fees and a lack of transparency regarding the closure. The Bigger Picture: Student Welfare and Accountability As the investigation unfolds, the key issue remains the lack of communication from FIITJEE towards its students and their families. No prior notices or explanations were provided to the affected parents, leaving them confused and uncertain about how their children’s educational journeys will continue. The situation has raised serious questions about accountability in the private coaching sector, especially in institutions that handle hefty tuition fees. Parents are demanding that FIITJEE be held accountable for the financial loss incurred and the potential disruption to their children’s educational careers. Conclusion The unexpected shutdown of FIITJEE centers in Noida and Ghaziabad has caused widespread concern among parents. Many are left grappling with their children’s education uncertainty and the financial strain of lost fees. The protests and subsequent police investigation underline the pressing need for better regulation and transparency in private educational institutions. The affected families continue to demand swift action and a fair resolution to safeguard their children’s futures. *For more details visit* https://youtu.be/xC0VqcAk_XI?si=d-i8vNNosa4J1Xfj https://www.theenn.com/video-411d42902.html
