*Haryana's Commitment to Swift Implementation of National Education Policy 2020*
On February 2, 2025, Haryana Education Minister Mahipal Singh Dhanda reaffirmed the state's dedication to the rapid implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. Addressing a gathering at Chotu Ram Model Public School in Jharsa, organized to commemorate Deenbandhu Sir Chhotu Ram's 144th birth anniversary, Dhanda emphasized the government's resolve to integrate the NEP's directives promptly.
Prioritizing Holistic Student Development
Dhanda highlighted that the primary focus of the Education Department is the comprehensive development of every student in Haryana. He stressed the importance of an education system that imparts academic knowledge, fosters character building, and equips students with skills essential for meaningful employment. He stated, "We should not just make children degree holders but also give them such an education that will uplift their character and help them get the right employment based on efficiency."
Honoring Sir Chhotu Ram's Legacy
Reflecting on Sir Chhotu Ram's contributions, Dhanda lauded his historic efforts for the welfare of marginalized communities. As a Revenue Minister, Sir Chhotu Ram implemented significant reforms to alleviate the burdens of indebted farmers, providing them with much-needed justice. Dhanda remarked, "Sir Chhotu Ram did historic work for the welfare of the depressed, downtrodden, and exploited classes in the country."
Financial Support for Educational Initiatives
In a move to further educational development, Dhanda announced a grant of ₹21 lakh to the Sir Chhotu Ram Society. This funding aims to support various educational initiatives and uphold the legacy of Sir Chhotu Ram in promoting education among the underprivileged.
Infrastructure Development in Schools
Dhanda laid the foundation stone for a new E-Block at the school, demonstrating the government's commitment to enhancing educational infrastructure. This development is expected to improve students' facilities and learning environments, contributing to their growth and development.
Collaborative Efforts for Educational Advancement
The event witnessed the presence of several dignitaries, including Gurugram MLA Mukesh Sharma and Tejpal Tanwar, who collectively emphasized the importance of education in societal development. Sharma highlighted that under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the government has implemented the Minimum Support Price (MSP) on 24 crops, aiming for the prosperity of farmers. This vision aligns with Sir Chhotu Ram's emphasis on the welfare of the agrarian community.
Aligning with National Educational Objectives
Dhanda reiterated that Haryana has completed all necessary preparations to implement the NEP 2020. He expressed confidence that this policy would transform education and position India as a 'Vishwaguru' or world leader in education. He noted, "Haryana has taken all necessary steps to take the National Education Policy to the school level."
Conclusion
The Haryana government's proactive approach to implementing NEP 2020 underscores its commitment to educational reform. By focusing on holistic student development, honoring the legacy of visionary leaders like Sir Chhotu Ram, and investing in academic infrastructure and initiatives, the state aims to create an education system that imparts knowledge, builds character, and equips students for future challenges.
