1. *ZIMBABWE NEEDS TO RETURN TO FACTORY SETTINGS – SAYS FORMER MINISTER MZEMBI*
Former foreign affairs minister Walter Mzembi says Zimbabwe needs to return to factory settings for it to function properly.
He says if that is not taken into account the current generation is going to leave a legacy of a failed nation.
“Reform and Renewal is our Generational brief otherwise we are going to bequeath to future generations a Failed State!
“To achieve this we need to Reset to factory settings, Restart and the Reform & Renewal agenda kicks in,” he says.
His comments comes at the time there is some infighting within the ruling party over who will succeed President Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa.
Mnangagwa is expected to step down in 2028, when his second and final term ends. However, he is rumoured to be working underground to extend his term of office beyond 2030.
Apparently, the war veterans led by Blessed Geza are calling for President Mnangagwa’s resignation.
Meanwhile according to Mzembi, it is the failure to transform by the proverbial Dinosaur, once the most dominant terrestrial vertebrate that led to it’s extinction.
“Current mischief needing a cure in most former Liberation Movements includes a culture of entitlement, exclusionary high handed politics, failure to renew and regenerate and a departure from founding charters of serving the people not the current parasitic, horse and rider relationship with the people.
“Former Liberation Movements need a Reset to founding principles and for relevance with contemporary generations, a Renewal, Regeneration & Modernisation Agenda,” he said.
Mzembi added that organisations, political parties in this instance do expire like the human life leading them, and unless they seek to regenerate, and not fear renewal they surely will die.
“Renewal is a natural progression. In the terminal state of Revolutionary Parties the only answer is Regeneration and Renewal and this is neither sexually transmitted nor an inheritance.
“A modernisation agenda steeped in founding values will bring to the fore a successor cadreship. A key word underpinning the survival of Liberation Movements shall be Meritocracy. Embrace merit, don’t hate excellence.
“Building organisations investing in mediocrity, gossip & chicanery, buying support in fraudulent primaries and opaque processes is not gonna be sustainable.
“There is a pushback on this political culture and Botswana has just shown us How. The modern alternative will sweep away entitlement,” he said. *_-ZwNews_*
2. *ZANU PF HEAVYWEIGHTS, STATE AGENTS LOOT AUXILLIA MNANGAGWA DONATED ITEMS*
Zanu PF heavyweights and state security agents have been accused of looting foodstuffs, hampers, and farming inputs that were donated to villagers by Mrs. Auxillia Mnangagwa on Wednesday.
Mrs. Mnangagwa had been in Masvingo for a rally at the Masvingo Showgrounds, where thousands of attendees were bused in from across the province. School pupils were reportedly coerced into attending the event.
A Zanu PF source revealed the poor distribution of the donated goods, stating, “Attendees were divided into groups of 10 and made to share a 50kg bag of rice, while top government and Zanu PF officials received 10kg of mealie meal each.”
Further reports from Benjamin Burombo indicated that the donated items were heavily looted by Zanu PF officials and state security agents. “The donated items were stolen by senior party members and state security agents. Senior government officials also stole the items,” a government source said, condemning the actions.
These allegations have raised concerns about the misuse of charitable donations and the abuse of power by political and security elites. *_-ZimEye_*
3. *BLESSED GEZA RUMORED TO BE HIDING AT JOSIAH MAGAMA TONGOGARA BARRACKS*
Unconfirmed reports are circulating that Blessed Geza, the prominent war veteran and Zanu PF central committee member, is currently hiding at the Josiah Magama Tongogara Barracks, formerly known as KG6, in the capital.
This development suggests a deepening rift between the Army and Police, with the army allegedly backing Vice President Constantino Chiwenga, who is seen as the frontrunner to succeed President Emmerson Mnangagwa.
Geza is facing multiple charges, including incitement to commit public violence, undermining the authority of President Mnangagwa, and alleged theft of three vehicles.
His criticism of Mnangagwa has been ongoing, with Geza publicly calling for the President’s resignation and resisting the alleged plan to extend Mnangagwa’s term of office.
The police have launched a manhunt for Geza, warning that anyone harbouring or assisting him to evade questioning will be liable for arrest and prosecution.
“The suspect is facing four counts of criminal charges as outlined:
“Theft allegations as defined in Section 113 of the Criminal Law Codification and Reform Act, Chapter 9 23. The suspect stole and disposed of three vehicles belonging to a complainant without his consent,” police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi stated.
“He is also facing two Counts of contravening Section 33 (2) (a) (ii) of the Criminal Law Codification and Reform Act, Chapter 9: 23, “Undermining the Authority of or Insulting the President.
“One count of contravening Section 187 of the Criminal Law Codification and Reform Act, Chapter 9: 23, ‘Incitement to commit public violence’.”
However, if the reports of Geza’s hiding at the Josiah Magama Tongogara Barracks are true, it would indicate that the army is providing him with protection, further highlighting the deepening factionalism within Zanu PF.
Addressing journalists in Harare on Thursday, Zanu PF spokesperson Chris Mutsvangwa suggested that Geza was being used by certain people within the party.
“I have a lot of angst about the way he is being used by people who have a certain agenda. Comrade Geza, I do not know what other issues might be bothering you, but we, the war veterans, always remember…
“I wish he would not follow fools who are misleading him. I am deeply concerned about what is happening with him,” said Mutsvangwa. *_-Nehanda Radio_*
4. *MONEY BOUQUETS, THE SAXOPHONE GUY — LOVE IN THE DIGITAL AGE!*
Valentine’s Day has arrived once again, a day inextricably linked with love, romance, and exchange of heartfelt gifts.
Traditionally, enamoured couples would surprise one another with handwritten love notes, sumptuous chocolates, long-stemmed red roses, and intimate candlelit dinners.
However, in today’s digital age, love has assumed a decidedly modern guise, shaped by the omnipresent forces of technology, social media, and contemporary trends.
The days when a simple, yet elegant bouquet of fresh flowers could captivate a loved one’s heart are now a distant memory.
The humble, traditional chocolates and roses of yesteryear no longer suffice.
The latest craze sweeping the nation is the ‘money bouquet’ – a lavish arrangement of artfully folded US dollar notes, painstakingly crafted to resemble a bouquet of roses.
And, of course, no such gesture will be complete without the smooth, soulful strains of a hired saxophonist.
To gauge the sentiment of couples in Mutare, The Manica Post went around the streets of the city, engaging with various individuals about the evolving nature of love in the digital age.
According to the youthful lovers interviewed, the emphasis has shifted from genuine love and affection to grand, Instagram-worthy gestures.
Mixed opinions were obtained, with some enthusiastic about the modern trends, while others bemoaned the loss of authentic romance.
Miss Chenai Mutasa (25), a tertiary education student, candidly confessed that she preferred the allure of money roses to the fleeting beauty of fresh flowers.
“Why should I get something that will dry up and wither in a few days when I can receive real money, which I can use to buy whatever I want? Money roses are a smart gift. I know some people think that preferring the money bouquet portrays you as someone who does not prioritise intimate moments with your partner, but we should face the reality as it is. The saxophone player is a wanted bonus. That sort of video will definitely look good on my Instagram,” she said with a laugh.
Mr Travis Machena (28), of Darlington, and numerous other gentlemen disagreed, positing that a Valentine’s Day inspired by social media has lost its original significance.
“It is no longer about expressing genuine love, but rather about proving to the world that one is in love. Social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok now dictate how people celebrate love. Valentine’s Day is about love, not about flaunting one’s wealth. A single red rose can hold profound meaning if given with sincerity. The problem lies in the fact that people have become overly concerned with showcasing their relationships. If one fails to post about their gift on Facebook or WhatsApp, it is as if it never occurred. Furthermore, the expectation of extravagant gifts has created a sense of greed, which undermines the true meaning and historical context of Valentine’s Day,” said Mr Machena.
Valentine’s Day has its origins in the third century, when Emperor Claudius II outlawed marriage for young men, believing that single men made more effective soldiers.
A Roman priest named Valentine defied the emperor’s orders and continued to perform secret weddings. He was subsequently arrested and executed on February 12, 270 AD.
Before his demise, he allegedly sent a note to a young woman, signed ‘From your Valentine’, thereby inspiring the tradition of love letters and romantic gestures.
Fast-forward to the present day, and the manner in which love is expressed has undergone a dramatic transformation.
Mr Tinashe Chibisa (32), of Chikanga said the pressure to impress on Valentine’s Day has become overwhelming.
“It is no longer about love – it has devolved into a competition between couples. It is about who can accumulate the most money in a money bouquet. If you fail to purchase an extravagant gift for your girlfriend, she will compare you unfavourably to others. Social media has ruined relationships,” he said.
Elderly couples also shared their perspectives.
Mr and Mrs Mlambo, of Chikanga, who have been married for over 40 years, believe that love should not be measured by material possessions.
“In our youth, a simple handwritten letter was sufficient to brighten someone’s day. Nowadays, young people crave expensive gifts and broadcast every detail on the internet,” observed Mrs Mlambo, shaking her head in disbelief.
However, not everyone is convinced that digital love is a negative phenomenon. A notable trend this week in Mutare was the surge in businesses capitalising on Valentine’s Day, particularly the money bouquet industry.
Florists, who once focused on selling fresh roses, have shifted their attention to creating money bouquets. Moreover, several gift shops offered promotional deals for men purchasing teddy bears, perfume, and chocolates.
One florist, Ms Emma Chinyamutangira of Floral Delights and Gifts, offered money bouquets priced at US$15 for a bouquet containing 20-30 US$1 bills, US$20 for a bouquet with 40-50 US$1 bills, and US$30 for a bouquet with 60-100 US$1 bills.
Customers are required to provide the money used in the bouquet.
Ms Chinyamutangira said business was booming, as more people now prefer cash over traditional gifts.
She had received numerous orders for Valentine’s Day.
“Fresh flowers are beautiful, but they are ephemeral. People now desire something that holds tangible value. A money bouquet allows your partner to admire it, take photographs, and later utilise the money as they see fit. It is a gift that keeps on giving,” she explained, while arranging a US$100 bouquet at her stall in the CBD.
Ms Chinyamutangira acknowledged that social media has played a significant role in popularising money bouquets.
“Most of my customers are inspired by images they have seen online. They don’t want to be left out. That is simply the way things are nowadays – people want to showcase their relationships,” she added with a chuckle.
Over the week, photographers were also offering special Valentine’s Day photo shoots, further highlighting the importance of social media in modern relationships.
Love in the digital age presents both advantages and disadvantages.
While technology facilitates communication and celebration of love, it also fosters unrealistic expectations.
The pressure to conform to social media standards has led to the proliferation of shallow relationships, where public validation takes precedence over genuine personal connections.
Some individuals receive extravagant gifts from partners who engage in infidelity behind the scenes.
Nonetheless, as long as they can showcase these gifts online, they pretend to be in blissful relationships.
Despite the changing trends, some believe in the essence of love in the traditional form.
Ms Chinyamutangira said love should be celebrated every day, not just on Valentine’s Day.
“A single day of extravagance does not define a relationship. What truly matters is how you treat your partner on a daily basis,” she said. *_-Manica Post_*
5. *I’M A CHIGANANDA, SAYS SECRETARY FOR PRESIDENTIAL AFFAIRS MUGUTI*
Secretary for Presidential Affairs in the Office of the President Tafadzwa Muguti says he is not among those people described by Vice President Constantino Chiwenga as Zvigananda.
Vice President Chiwenga described the so called Mbingas and those with unexplainable wealth as Zvigananda.
Apparently, Muguti says his wealth is out of his sweat and blood.
“With all the talk about Mbingas and Slay Queens who flaunt unknown wealth sources.
“Share your (P) here (product or payslip/ in the form of the job).
“For it is only through hard work and production that will get Zimbabwe’s economy going forward.
“Share something you are doing actually contributing to the Nation’s growth
“Take pride #showyourp,” he says.
Muguti accompanied the message with photos of him at his farm, displaying a healthy crop.
Apparently, Chiwenga who is next in line to succeed President Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa warned is on record warning Zviganandas that the law will deal with them mercilessly. *_-ZwNews_*
6. *LEARNERS BARRED FROM TEACHERS’ QUARTERS*
Learners have been barred from visiting teachers’ quarters for no reasonable cause, while no learner will be barred from attending school over non-payment of fees or levies, lack of a birth certificate, pregnancy and lack quality of results.
These are part of the several regulations gazetted by Primary and Secondary Education Minister, Dr Torerayi Moyo yesterday, as the Heritage-Based Education curriculum takes root.
Minister Moyo invoked the Education Act through Statutory Instrument 13 of 2025 to give effect to regulations meant to instil discipline both on students and teachers.
The regulations, to be cited as the Education (General) Regulations, 2025, are meant to stop societal vices such as drug abuse, sexual abuse, and bullying, among others. Section 12 of the regulations provides that when a girl child gets pregnant, the school must provide psycho-social support.
“Where a girl who is a pupil at a school becomes pregnant, the school head — (a) shall inform the parents of the girl as soon as possible if they are not already aware of the pregnancy, (b) shall facilitate psycho-social supportive services to the girl and parent, (c) if the girl and her parents so wish, the girl shall be permitted to remain at school for as long as possible before the delivery of her child, and to return thereafter as soon as her health and the health of her child permit it,” reads the regulations.
Section 14 of the regulations does not allow students to visit teachers’ quarters.
“14 (1) No pupils must be allowed at the school staff quarters. (2) Every school shall develop guidelines for the pupils to access staff offices and base rooms to ensure safety of the pupils. (3) Subsection (1) shall not apply where the pupil is a child or relative of the teacher or member of staff whose living-quarters he or she enters and resides in,” reads the regulations.
Section 18 empowers a school head to suspend a pupil whom he or she reasonably suspects of serious misconduct for up to 14 days to allow investigations.
“No pupil may be suspended from school without first being granted a reasonable opportunity, with the support of his or her parents, to make representations with respect to the proposed suspension,” the regulations read.
Section 20 prevents pupils from being excluded from school for non-payment of any form of school fees or levies.
However, it imposes an obligation on parents and guardians to pay school fees and levies before schools open for a new term.
The regulations seek to provide equal opportunity to education and it stipulates that no pupil should be denied an opportunity to learn because of the quality of his or her results.
“Basic education is compulsory and, if the parents of the pupil cannot afford the tuition fees and levies at a Government school, the State shall assist, within the limits of the resources available to it, in providing that education.
“Admission of children into Government schools; No school head shall exclude a child of school-going age from enrolment at a Government school solely on the ground that the child does not have a birth certificate. No child of school-going age shall be denied admission into basic education in Government schools based on the quality of results he or she possesses,” reads the regulations.
A fine not exceeding level six or imprisonment of up to six months shall apply to those found guilty of violating the above.
The regulations also empower the school head to expel a pupil if he or she is satisfied, after a fair hearing that the pupil is guilty of serious misconduct and in expelling the pupil, he should notify the parents furnishing them with reasons for his or her decision.
But the expulsion should be effected after consultation with the District Schools Inspector (DSI) and responsible authority of the school, if it is a non-Government school.
A parent of an expelled pupil has 14 days of appealing in writing to the Permanent Secretary or any other person designated by the Permanent Secretary through the DSI and a decision should be made within a month.
The learner concerned might be allowed to attend lessons unless school authorities feel on reasonable grounds, that such attendance might lead to indiscipline or injury to any person or damage to property.
The school head is obliged to notify his superior about his decision to expel a pupil including the Permanent Secretary of Primary and Secondary Education and the reasons for doing so. *_-Herald_*
7. *SEVERAL PEOPLE FEARED DEAD AFTER MANDAZA BUS COLLIDES WITH GLEN VIEW 2 HIGH SCHOOL BUS*
Several people are feared dead after a Mandaza Bus traveling from Gutu collided with a Glen View 2 High School bus, 10km before Beatrice.
The two buses were involved in a head-on collision today along the Harare-Masvingo Highway.
Details on casualties and injuries remain unclear at this time, but emergency services are on the scene.
Unconfirmed reports suggest that three people died on the spot.
According to the police, investigations into the accident are ongoing, and more details will be released later.
The incident comes barely two days after Thursday’s deadly bus crash, which claimed 24 lives and left over 30 others injured.
That crash occurred when an Urban Connect bus collided with a haulage truck near the Lutumba tollgate on the Beitbridge-Masvingo highway.
The chilling accident has left Zimbabweans worried and concerned, with many calling for urgent measures to improve road safety. Social media has been flooded with messages of condolences and frustration over the rising number of accidents on the country’s highways.
*Here are some of the reactions:*
@Ca Listar Faith; 😢Something has to be done about the absolute carnage on our roads, the absolute disregard for the rules of the road by public transport operators is disgraceful!
@Ivonne Clements; When is this carnage going to end … police are busy checking for fire extinguishers and triangles etc … they need to get out there and stop speeding and other driving issues
@Lorna Mary Batchelor; Another bad bus crash! Something has to be done about the absolute carnage on our roads, the absolute disregard for the rules of the road by public transport operators is disgraceful!
@Elisha E Musungata; Road carnage in Zimbabwe has reached alarming proportions and should be dealt with as a matter of urgency.
@Dickson Mbewe; Government must introduce strict rules against these bus drivers. *_-iHarare_*
8. *BUSHIRI’S SPOKESPERSON MAYNARD MANYOWA SAYS UEBERT ANGEL HAS NEVER COOKED UP A MIRACLE DESPITE GOLD MAFIA EVIDENCE*
UK based journalist Maynard Manyowa, currently serving as the fugitive Shepherd Bushiri’s spokesperson, has gone under review over his statements that call for the community to trust the GoldMafia implicated and fugitive ambassador Uebert Angel.
“That said, having worked around these men of God – I can say Uebert Angel doesn’t cook prophecies or miracles.
“He never asked me to do it. I never saw him do it. And he had me bring strangers of my choosing to him – and told them their life from start to finish…,” writes Maynard Manyowa
“ That said, having worked around these men of God – I can say Uebert Angel doesn’t cook prophecies or miracles. He never asked me to do it. I never saw him do it. And he had me bring strangers of my choosing to him – and told them their life from start to finish…,” writes Maynard Manyowa.
The development comes at a time Manyowa is receiving assistance from journalist Hopewell Chin’ono to make what is supposed to be an expose’ of the government of Zimbabwe. Both Manyowa and Chin’ono have corrupted the army and CIO (central intelligence organisation) by testifying falsely to cover up for the Mnangagwa regime during crackdowns.
While Chin’ono advises the ministry of Defence to descend onto the civil society as a way of suppressing political tension, Manyowa faces renewed scrutiny over his other statements and alleged efforts to downplay the August 1, 2018 military crackdown on protesters. Manyowa, is under fire for his testimony before the Kgalema Motlanthe Commission of Inquiry, where he controversially claimed he did not see soldiers at the scene of a fatal shooting.
During his testimony before the Motlanthe Commission, Manyowa provided an account that contradicted multiple eyewitness reports and video evidence showing soldiers firing at civilians during post-election protests.
Manyowa told the commission that he did not see any soldiers when Ishmael Kumene was fatally shot near Cameron Street and Jason Moyo Avenue in Harare.
Said Manyowa:
“A group of protesters were running and as they were running, I noticed a guy wearing black and he took two steps and tumbled down.”
“At the time he took those steps, there had been people behind him, but there were no soldiers at the time. I don’t know who shot the guy. There were gunshots going all over the directions. I think it could be people in the crowd who fired shots.”
Manyowa’s version of events appeared to shift blame away from the security forces, instead suggesting that the fatal shots may have come from within the crowd of MDC-Alliance supporters.
Further defending the military’s actions, Manyowa claimed that soldiers only intervened after protesters turned violent — damaging police vehicles and targeting officers with bricks.
“Two gentlemen launched bricks towards the police water cannon and hit the muzzle. When they hit the muzzle, the water cannon immediately flooded, and that caused water leakages near the gate.”
Manyowa also alleged that MDC supporters had initially protested peacefully before returning in a more violent manner.
“A group of protesters besieged the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission’s Results Centre at the Rainbow Towers Hotel. They protested peacefully and co-operated with police. It was quite an incredible sight, watching protesters pave way for traffic, taking turns with the police to open and close the gate.”
“Some 20 minutes later, they left. Some one hour later they returned, with new company. Armed with sticks and stones. This time cars were blocked, police were stoned. A few colleagues and I received a few bricks to the back as we fled.”
His comments at the time were widely criticized, with many accusing him of acting as a shield for the Zimbabwean military, despite overwhelming evidence — including video footage — showing soldiers firing live ammunition at civilians.
*Alleged Financial Ties to Uebert Angel Raise Further Questions*
Adding to the controversy, Manyowa is also facing allegations of financial ties to Uebert Angel, a controversial religious leader linked to political elites. Resurfaced tweets from Manyowa show him praising Angel, thanking him for his presence at events, and later defending him against accusations of faking prophecies and miracles.
Critics argue that Manyowa’s credibility as a journalist is compromised due to his close affiliations with high-profile figures like Bushiri and Angel, both of whom have faced legal and ethical scrutiny. Some claim that Manyowa has benefited financially from these relationships, raising concerns about his ability to report objectively.
Twitter user Mike Mpofu directly confronted him, stating:
“Which work did you do other than writing an email over a well-known soccer issue, already publicly exposed in the High Court, and getting money from Uebert Angel all these years to date?”
Manyowa has not explicitly denied receiving financial support from Angel but dismissed the allegations as a desperate attack on his journalism.
Manyowa Responds: “I Struck a Nerve”
Responding to the backlash, Manyowa downplayed the resurfacing of his tweets, suggesting that his critics were simply recycling public information.
“The brilliant work I am doing has struck a nerve, I see. So let’s dig up public tweets and claim they are some revelation,” he tweeted, adding a laughing emoji.
On accusations of spiritual affiliations, he stated:
“I am not spiritual – so I don’t really mind what they are. N’angas or otherwise. Doesn’t bother me.”
*Public Reaction: Calls for Accountability*
Manyowa’s statements have triggered a fresh wave of criticism, with many questioning whether he used his platform to mislead the public about the military’s actions in 2018. His role as Bushiri’s spokesperson and ties to Angel have only fueled speculation that he is a mouthpiece for powerful figures rather than an objective journalist.
With Zimbabwe’s media and political landscape under intense scrutiny, calls for greater transparency and accountability in journalism continue to grow. *_-ZimEye_*
9. *BULAWAYO COUNCIL INTENSIFIES CRACKDOWN ON DOG OWNERS*
The City of Bulawayo has intensified a strict enforcement of its dog control regulations following an alarming increase in the number of animals kept on private properties, which residents report as a growing nuisance.
In response to the issue, Bulawayo town clerk, Christopher Dube announced that it has imposed several measures to contain the problem.
“Dog owners and the general public are hereby advised that, in terms of the Bulawayo (Dog Licensing and Control) By Laws, no person shall keep a dog aged 6 months or more in the council area unless he/she is the holder of a licence.
“No person shall keep in the council area more than two dogs on any property measuring less than 2000 square meters, and not more than four dogs on any larger property.
“No person shall allow his dog(s) to roam outside his premises without restraint,” said Dube
He also added that, “Dogs shall only be kept where the property is securely fenced/walled and gated. (A hedge is not permissible.)
“Dogs within the council area shall be vaccinated against rabies. No person shall breed a dog or keep an unspayed bitch in the council area unless he/she is a licensed breeder.”
Council has also encouraged dog owners to get licences, which are valid for one year.
“A dog licence is valid from the (1st January 31st December) and can be obtained from any City of Bulawayo Revenue Office upon production of a valid vaccination certificate and payment of a fee of US$24 for a male dog and USD$27 for a female and an unspayed dog USD$27,” said Dube
Owners who can no longer keep their dogs are encouraged to call the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA).
“Dog owners who can no longer care for or need their dogs are advised to surrender them to the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA).
“Residents and stakeholders are advised that the City of Bulawayo, Zimbabwe Republic Police, Department of Veterinary Field Services, and Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) will respond to any complaints,” said Dube. *_-NewZimbabwe_*
10. *“THIS IS THE BEST MOVE I HAVE EVER MADE IN MY LIFE,” – WILLOM TIGHT TURNS TO TOBACCO FARMING*
Veteran Zimbabwean Afro Jazz musician Willom Tight has now turned to tobacco farming, saying that his latest venture is the fulfillment of a long held ambition.
After more than three decades in the music industry, Tight has decided to dedicate time to his second love, farming.
In an interview with the State owned Herald newspaper, Tight revealed that he felt that he had made the right decision by venturing into tobacco farming.
“I might be a musician, but I have always loved farming,” said the veteran crooner.
“Piggery has always been my fall back or side hustle, as you might want to say in street lingo, but I have just tried my hand at tobacco farming.
“By the way, my roots lie in Manicaland, which happens to be a great region for tobacco farming. I was persuaded by a relative to try it, and I am glad that I made the right choice,” he said.
Tight said that while tobacco farming was demanding, he was no stranger to hard work.
“Whenever I move around the Headlands community in my spare time, I meet quite a number of talented artists determined to make an impression in their careers. Some of the lads have been asking for my expertise to mentor them, and I always do that whenever I am free.
“I have managed to take some of them to Harare to record their music, and very soon you will hear them on the radio,” he said.
Tight also added that he had always craved a life away from drama and controversy.
“I have always wanted to lead a normal life and stay away from controversy. I am challenging anyone who thinks I have a scandal to come forward and tell the world. I will always maintain a simple life, which is my principle,” he said. *_-Nehanda Radio_*
11. *IT ENDED IN TEARS – HARARE MAN LEFT HEARTBROKEN AFTER GIRLFRIEND REJECT HIS VALENTINE’S SUPRISE*
What was meant to be a romantic gesture turned into a Valentine’s nightmare for one Harare man when his girlfriend publicly rejected his Valentine’s surprise.
His attempt to woo her on Valentine’s Day failed miserably.
Seeing as it was Valentine’s Day, the man decided to go all out and surprise his girlfriend at a local restaurant. He arrived with a guitarist he had hired to serenade her and was carrying gifts.
In the video, the man is seen as he and the guitarist approach his girlfriend, who was seated in the restaurant with her friend. He then got down on one knee and presented her with the Valentine’s gift he had bought for her.
She stood up as if to back away, remaining silent as her boyfriend continued kneeling with the gift and rose, waiting for her to accept them.
Their grand entrance attracted a lot of attention, with spectators in the restaurant watching, taking videos, and even joining in to sing along with the guitarist.
Despite all the excitement, the woman still refused to accept the gift. Instead, she walked away and left him standing there with guitarist.
The video has generated a buzz and sparked numerous reactions on social media. While some sympathized with the man, others poked fun at him.
Some netizens argued that men should avoid planning such Valentine’s surprises to spare themselves public embarrassment.
*Here are some of the reactions:*

12. *MAN BUTCHERED OVER REFUSING TO SHARE US$2*
A nasty altercation over US$2, given as a token of appreciation, led to the murder of a Zimunya man who was gruesomely stabbed with a broken beer bottle by a colleague, accusing him of being selfish and stingy.
The victim, Phineas Hurekure, was brutally stabbed with a broken beer bottle by his colleague, Tobias Kutadza after the pair had assisted a stranger in retrieving his vehicle which was stuck in a ditch at Madanhire Business Centre in Chigodora.
The stranger, whose identity was not established, allegedly gave US$2 to the now late Hurekure, a gesture that did not go down well with Kutadza who confronted him, demanding a share of the money.
Hurekure died shortly after admission at Victoria Chitepo Provincial Hospital, having lost a significant amount of blood.
Kutadza allegedly inflicted severe lacerations on Hurekure’s throat and chin.
Acting Manicaland provincial police spokesperson, Assistant Inspector Wiseman Chinyoka confirmed the tragic incident, which happened last week in Chief Zimunya’s area.
“At around 9pm, on the fateful day, the deceased and accused person were drinking beer at Madanhire Business Centre, Zimunya, Mutare when a motorist, driving a Toyota Corolla was stuck in a ditch, adjacent the business centre.
The motorist called for assistance from the people who were at the business centre.
A total of 10 people, who include the accused and deceased went to assist the stranger.

15. *POLICE BUST NOTORIOUS CROSS-BORDER THIEVES SYNDICATE*
Police in Chipinge have recovered goods worth US$10 000 from suspects who committed unlawful entry cases during the festive season.
A sting operation by detectives, which began in November, led to the arrest of four fugitives who terrorised Mt Selinda, Chako, and Mandanda business centres with their criminal activities.
The four suspects are Edson Godfrey Mabvirakare (43), from Tochiona Village, Bikita, Stanford Mataruse (27), of ZBS, Chipinge, Thomas Sithole (41), from Mapungwana Village, Chief Mapungwana, Chipinge and Wonder Maraire (39) of no fixed abode.
Zimbabwe Republic Police Chipinge Urban, Inspector Anos Chindanya confirmed the haul, adding that the police will bring all criminal elements under his jurisdiction to book.
“Following a surge in unlawful entry cases in my policing area, we gathered intelligence to identify the perpetrators, as most cases were going undetected. Our intelligence team tracked down the recently released prisoners specialising in unlawful entry cases with modus operandi matching those reported by the complainants. Further investigation revealed that some suspects were staying in Mozambique, returning to Zimbabwe to commit crimes, and taking stolen property to Mozambique,” he said.
Inspector Chindanya said on February 5, Maraire was seen frequenting Mt Selinda, Chako and Mundanda business centres, and the following morning, police details approached him while he was walking from his sister’s homestead with his brother towards Chako Business Centre.
They used a social enquiry about the health of a relative as a ruse to lure the three family members into close proximity, enabling them to apprehend the accused.
After his arrest, Maraire led the police to one of the suspects only identified as Vukile’s homestead, who upon realising that the police were closing in, fled and remains at large.
A search of the fleeing suspect’s homestead led to the recovery of a base bed, laptop, 12-volt battery, motorbike, 2-in-1 blanket, Lifan motorbike and seven-channel sound mixer.
Maraire accompanied the police to his homestead where additional stolen items including a 12-volt Taurus battery, 12-volt Exide battery, three pillowcases, Capri water dispenser fridge, deep freezer fridge, KICC 210-litre deep freezer, 2 x 42-inch Plasma TVs, 32-inch Panasonic television, Hybrid PA system (full set), four buckets containing various groceries, electric kettle, three bedspread sets, comforter, an inverter, 5kg gas tank and four curtains were recovered.
Upon further interrogations, Maraire disclosed Mugabi as his other accomplice, and a search of his homestead yielded the following items — one speed bike engine, 240 bolts and 200 nuts, 152 washers, 70 A5 books and 20 A4 books.
Upon questioning, Mugabi disclosed that he had left additional stolen goods in Mozambique in the custody of an accomplice named D-Master.
The items included a lifestyle motorbike, speed bike, ATA Zim bike, laptop, four 12-volt batteries, various groceries and Samsung television.
The total value of the recovered property is estimated at US$10 000.
All the stolen goods were taken to ZRP Chipinge Urban, where the complainants positively identified their valuables.
Acting Officer Commanding Police in Chipinge District, Superintendent Godfrey Likalawe, emphasised the importance of community involvement in preventing crime, particularly in residential areas.
He encouraged the able-bodied to join the neighbourhood watch committee, which has been instrumental in curbing crime.
“We have managed to close 12 unlawful entry cases with the prosecution of these men. Going forward, it is important for members of the community that are able-bodied to join the neighbourhood watch committee to help curb crime in our residential areas. Members of the public should not leave their properties unattended since most of the crimes were committed during the night, and on our part as the police, we will increase neighbourhood patrols,” he said. *_-Manica Post_*
