🔆₹5 Lakh to Transform Tribal Houses into Homestays 📍Overview ✅The Union Cabinet approved a scheme providing ₹5 lakh to tribal households under the Tourism Ministry’s Swadesh Darshan Scheme. ✅Objective: Tap into the tourist potential of tribal areas. Provide alternative livelihood to tribal communities. 📍Key Features ✅Under the Pradhan Mantri Janjatiya Unnat Gram Abhiyan (PMJUGA), this initiative is part of 25 planned interventions across 63,000 tribal-majority villages. ✅Outlay: ₹79,156 crore over five years.Central share:₹56,333 crore.State share: ₹22,823 crore. ✅Focus areas include: Building 2 lakh pucca houses for tribal families. Conserving forests and promoting sustainable agricultural practices for Forest Rights Act (FRA) patta holders. 📍Additional Goals ✅Granting FRA titles to tribal groups (target: 24 lakh titles by June 2024). ✅Improving basic infrastructure in tribal areas: Roads: 25,000 km connecting tribal villages. Water access: Ensuring piped water supply in hamlets. Electricity: Electrifying 2.35 lakh tribal households. ✅Providing: Broadband connectivity to 5,000 villages under BharatNet. LPG connections to tribal families.
