The Department of Physics has developed eco-friendly, lead-free radiation shielding glass using rice husk ash, offering a safer and more sustainable alternative to traditional materials!
Their recent paper *Evaluation of radiation shielding characteristics of transparent barium bismuth borosilicate glasses derived from rice husk ash* published in the *Journal of Alloys and Compounds* shows 23.9% Radiation Protection Efficiency (RPE)—outperforming conventional lead-based glass! A major step towards greener & safer shielding solutions.
Kudos to *Sahil Pradhan, Upesh Kumar Appikonda, and Paramesh Gadige* for this impactful research!
