Respect yourself, always. Don't force bonds or conversations. Stay in your lane. Don't force people to choose you or to do what you hope they'd do. They're not going to move in your direction because you pressed play. You can be the kindest and most loving person, but it won't make everyone appreciate you or reciprocate your efforts and love.
