At least 20,000 federal workers — roughly 1% of the civilian federal workforce — have accepted the deferred resignation offer to leave the federal government since last week, a Trump administration official told ABC News.
The administration had previously said they hoped 5-10% of the federal workforce would take the offer to announce retirement now and receive pay and benefits through Sept. 30.
