The father of the 11-year-old boy from Los Angeles who pulled the Paul Skenes MLB Debut Patch autographed card thought it was either a checklist or a Topps promotional card.
The kind of inserts typically thrown away.
But the boy knew. And after all, it was his Christmas present.
The young collector described his emotions in a journal entry his mother encouraged him to write after finding one of the most sought-after cards in recent history.
