Did you know Christopher Columbus celebrated as one who "discovered " the Americas was sent back to Spain in chains after his third voyage to the Americas because he and his two brothers had ruled Hispaniola harshly. These crimes were unearthed by the new administrator. They were accused of abusing their power, mistreating the indigenous population, and engaging in exploitative practices. However, the Spanish Court acquitted him and set him free.
