The fisrt line of treatment of giant cell arteritis is prednisolone (40:60 mg/day) or pulse steroid; methylprednisolone (500:1000mg) once daily for 3 days then switch to prednisolone
The majority of pts with Giant cell arteritis (GCA) respond rapidly to initial ttt with glucocorticoid and vision loss in treated pts are rare .
Also the lack of response to glucocorticoid therapy SHOULD alert you to consider another question.
But in mind that vision loss due to GCA is irreversible 🏳️
