Jaampipa athi leh *BUNING* jong case thah or angle chuom a kuon ahung chawm lut kit ngal e Piulong Village Authority Appeals 12 Feb 2025 The Piulong Village Authority, Tamei Subdivision, Tamenglong district has appealed to the Government of Manipur to rename the project "Bunning Meadow" to "Piulong Meadow". The Piulong Village Authority in a release stated that the nomenclature "Bunning Meadow" is totally unacceptable to the people of Piulong village. It should be renamed as "Piulong Meadow" since Piulong village is the village inhabiting the meadow and is recognised as a full fledged hill house tax paying village under Manipur (Village Authorities in Hill Areas) Act, 1956 by the Governor of Manipur, added the press statement. "The inaugural stone of the "Bunning Meadow" project was erected at Tamenglong Headquarters by Chief Minister N Biren Singh his visit to Tamenglong district on January 22, 2025 to transform Bunning Meadow for sustainable water sources and promoting the village," said the Village Authority. Saying that the Village Authority welcomes the projects, it cautioned of resorting to various courses of agitation if their demand is not met, while adding that it may even go to the extent of halting the project. It further appealed to the implementing agencies/contractor to execute the project in consultation with the Piulong Village Authority Council.
