*US Job Growth Slows in January; Unemployment Rate at 4%*
The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) reported weaker-than-expected job growth in January.
Nonfarm payrolls rose by 143,000, significantly lower than December’s revised 307,000 and below the 169,000 forecast by Dow Jones. Meanwhile, the unemployment rate dipped to 4%.
The report also included major benchmark revisions to 2024 payroll data, with substantial downward adjustments to previously reported figures.
