Saint Petersburg Mosque, Russia The mosque was built to serve the Muslim community in St. Petersburg, which exceeded 8,000 people at the time. Its architecture is inspired by the Gur-e-Amir, the tomb of Tamerlane in Samarkand. The interior is adorned with beautiful Arabic calligraphy and mosaic ceramics.
