Mayor Aleck Tabe confirmed the approval in an interview with The Mirror. “Our budget proposal of US$35.2 million for the 2025 fiscal year has been approved and we will be implementing new tariffs and embarking on several developmental projects,” said Tabe The 2024 budget of US$23m had an average billing efficiency of 87% while the collection efficiency averaged 70%. Some of the major projects outlined in the budget include the installation of a solar plant at Bushmead Waterworks at US$5,500,000 to deal with incessant power cuts that affect the city’s sole water supply. Another major project is the survey, designs, servitude and acquisitions for the water augmentation phase two to increase the city’s water pumping capacity from the current 30 mega litres a day to meet the growing demand.US$5 million will be set aside for the project. The long awaited servicing of Rujeko D residential stands is pegged at US$1m and the stands are expected to be on sale before the year ends. Another project is purchasing Cambria Landfill Equipment for US$ 400,000 so that the current dumpsite in Victoria Range can be decommissioned. Masvingo Mirror
