*Strengthening Collaboration Between ECG and the Fire Service for Enhanced Safety and Security* Today, the GM/ External Communications, Mr Charles Nii Ayiku Ayiku had a productive meeting with the Head of Public Relations of the Ghana National Fire Service at the Ghana Fire Service Headquarters in Accra. The discussion focused on key areas of collaboration between the Ghana National Fire Service and the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) to enhance fire prevention, response efficiency, and community safety. *Key takeaways from the engagement:* ✅ Supporting Fire Volunteers in Rural Areas – The Fire Service trains fire volunteers in farming communities, who play a critical role in fire prevention. However, with the needed collaboration activities like clearing vegetation around ECG poles and infrastructure, fire risks will be reduced ✅ Addressing Transformer and Pole Fires – The increasing frequency of transformer and pole fires remains a concern. Enhanced collaborative monitoring, maintenance, and community awareness can help mitigate these incidents. ✅ Public Education on Fire Safety & Electricity Use – We explored the possibility of officially launching a joint programme with ECG to educate the public on the safe use of electricity to prevent fires. ✅ Leveraging Fire Service TV for Awareness – ECG commercials and public education can be advertised on Fire Service TV, ensuring critical safety messages reach their audience effectively. This engagement highlights the importance of cross-sector collaboration in ensuring public safety and energy efficiency. ECG and the Ghana Fire Service agreed to continue to work closely with each other to implement these initiatives for the benefit of all Ghanaians.
