Life imprisonment for convict Sanjay Roy. He was found guilty of the rape and murder of a trainee doctor at RG Kar Hospital in Kolkata on 9 August 2024. The CBI and the victim's family had demanded the death penalty for Roy. The Kolkata court noted that the case was not in the "rarest of the rare" category for a death penalty.
