The successful candidate will be an HCPC registered Biomedical Scientist with previous experience in Molecular Pathology testing protocols and the application of genomics testing within Cellular Pathology. A strong understanding of normal and pathological tissue morphology will also be highly advantageous in potential candidate’s applying for this role. Main duties of the job The successful candidate will work within the LCL Molecular Pathology Department to support the delivery of routine genomics diagnostics within Cellular Pathology and play a key role in the implementation of new genomics pathways in Cellular Pathology services within the Cheshire and Merseyside Pathology Network (CMPN). The post holder will be an HCPC Specialist Biomedical Scientist whose role will be to lead, supervise and motivate team members in the laboratory and to assist the Molecular Pathology Service Manager in the assessment and implementation of new techniques and equipment as required. The post holder will oversee and participate in a broad range of specialised diagnostic tests including Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) and fluorescence in situ hybridisation (FISH) investigations. Interpretive analysis forms a large component of this job role and the prospective post holder should have a good knowledge of tissue morphology and of the science behind the procedures they are using.
