Our economy will need 80% of workers to have tertiary education by 2050. If that’s going to happen, we simply have to make being a student easier.
Residents in Ryde have some of the highest average HECs debts in Sydney. That’s unsustainable.
In under 3 years, we’ve fixed unfair indexation, made repayments fairer and if we’re elected we’ll wipe 20% off student debt.
We’re also making free TAFE permanent.
We’ll also ensure that banks ignore HECs debt when young people take out a home loan.
I believe that be it at TAFE or university, upskilling should be easy and accessible.
BTW Liberals oppose all these measures. Students will be worse off under Dutton.
