Happy Friday, everyone! Hope you're all set for the weekend.
Before you log off, here are three stories from Switzerland you shouldn't have missed this week:
1️⃣ Swiss President Karin Keller-Sutter described US Vice-President JD Vance’s speech, which criticised Europe’s “retreating freedom of expression”, as “liberal, in a very Swiss sense”. She later clarified she was “only talking about one aspect of Vance’s statements,” specifically about listening to the population and guaranteeing freedom of expression.
2️⃣ The Swiss government has recognised the persecution of Sinti and Yenish travellers in the 20th century as a crime against humanity.
3️⃣ Swiss cantons and trade unions have agreed on domestic measures to protect wages ahead of a treaty with the European Union (EU).
See you next week! 👋
