Bal Bhavan Public School, Mayur Vihar Phase-2, in collaboration with CBSE and Special Olympics Bharat, successfully hosted the inaugural CBSE Special Games for Children with Special Needs (CWSN) on February 23rd and 24th, 2025. This landmark event underscored the commitment to inclusivity in sports, providing young athletes with special needs a platform to showcase their talent, resilience, and sportsmanship.
A Grand Inauguration with Esteemed Dignitaries
The opening ceremony was graced by eminent personalities, reinforcing the significance of this event. Chief Guest Sh. Himanshu Gupta, IAS, Secretary CBSE, and Guest of Honour Dr. Upasana Arora, President of Special Olympics Bharat & Managing Director of Yashoda Super Speciality Hospital, set the tone for this momentous occasion. Other dignitaries included Mr. Manjit Singh (Director, Sports CBSE), Ms. Ekta Jha (Director Sports, Special Olympics Bharat), Dr. Sanjay Chauhan (CBSE Observer & Principal, GD Goenka School, Indirapuram), Dr. Jyoti Arora (Member, CBSE Governing Body & Principal, Mount Abu School), Mr. Vikram Singh Rawat (Area Director, Special Olympics Bharat, Delhi), and Dr. Gauri Chakraborty (Professor, Indira Gandhi Institute of Physical Education and Sports). Their presence highlighted the growing focus on inclusive sporting opportunities.
Bal Bhavan Public School's leadership, including Director Shri BB Gupta, Principal Mr. Vividh Gupta, Chairman Shri GS Grover, and other key figures, extended a warm welcome to all guests and participants, emphasizing the school's commitment to inclusive education and sports.
Day 1: A Celebration of Unity and Sportsmanship
The event commenced with a solemn Lamp-Lighting Ceremony, followed by a dignified March Past, Torch Run, Oath-Taking Ceremony, and Flag-Hoisting. The school orchestra delivered a soulful performance, setting an inspiring atmosphere, while a Yoga Demonstration showcased the importance of mindfulness and discipline in sports.
76 schools participated in the competition, and 134 students competed in various track and field events, including the 25-meter Walk, 50-meter Flat Run, 4x100-meter Relay, Tennis Ball Throw, Softball Throw, and Standing Long Jump. Each event was meticulously planned to ensure fair competition based on ability levels, fostering an environment of encouragement and achievement.
Day 2: Competitive Spirit and Recognition
On day 2, the final track events occurred, and participants demonstrated determination and skill. The competitions were structured to ensure fair play and equal opportunity for all athletes. The enthusiasm and competitive spirit on display were truly commendable.
The day's highlight was the Prize Distribution Ceremony, where winners were honored with medals and certificates for their stellar performances. The event concluded with a Vote of Thanks, appreciating the collective efforts of the organizers, teachers, and volunteers who played an instrumental role in its success. Principal Mr. Vividh Gupta officially declared the meeting closed, recognizing the dedication of the organizing team by presenting them with appreciation certificates from the school.
